🌟 Looking back on 2023, I am reflecting on one of my favorite moments — Joining Annette Young, alongside Anna Neistat and Rebecca Amsellem, on The 51 Percent’s 10th Anniversary Show! I was honored to be one of the guests celebrating this milestone. Ten years ago, Annette Young and team set out to share, reflect, and highlight the stories of women making a difference in the world. During this time, we’ve seen some progress for women’s rights, but the cold truth remains: given the amount of pushback against women’s rights, my daughter might have fewer rights than I did at her age. The pushback is a global issue and more work needs to be done to safeguard rights for women and girls worldwide. Immediate change is needed to: 📌 Increase female representation in positions of power across the globe by challenging biases against women and girls and investing in their education. 📌 Prioritize reproductive rights to achieve women's dignity, protect basic healthcare needs, and uphold bodily autonomy. 📌 Tackle the “pandemic in plain sight” - violence against women and girls. Continuing in the fight against gender inequality takes policymakers, leaders in the private and public sectors, and every citizen worldwide - especially our male allies - to take a stand publicly. Young men especially need to own this agenda. Too many feel disenfranchised and threatened. 📌 Empower women financially through equal pay efforts and foster a more inclusive economy and society. 📌 Mitigate the impact of climate change on women & girls, who are overexposed to its devastating consequences. Mainstreaming a gender-intentional lens is key for reversing environmental challenges and building a new feminist approach to climate justice. I hope the next decade sees more change than the last! In our pursuit of closing opportunity gaps, we must address areas lacking representation. This article sheds light on the gender disparity among podcast guests. The statistics are startling. Overlooking highly qualified female voices in the podcasting world reduces women’s visibility and access to opportunities for networking, forming partnerships, and exploring investment avenues. https://lnkd.in/efr2rp6E

What is the Andrew Jose Show? It’s a culture, news, and entertainment podcast bringing in authors, activists, entrepreneurs, and others with uplifting, inspirational, and insightful stories and perspectives. The Andrew Jose Show differs from Strategic Wisdom in that the latter does the heavy lifting on issues in international and national security, foreign affairs, and war, while the former focuses on culture, local and national news, movies, books, music, and more. Of course, there will be times when there will be an overlap in the coverage of both shows, but for the most part, the Andrew Jose Show is a light-hearted culture and entertainment counterpart to Strategic Wisdom. For the inaugural episode of The Andrew Jose Show, I will be speaking with former California State Assemblywoman Mary Chung Hayashi. In her award-winning book, Women in Politics: Breaking Down the Barriers to Achieve True Representation, Hayashi shares the triumphant journeys of 17 women in political leadership who faced overwhelming odds but shattered glass ceilings and paved the way for future generations of trailblazing women. Hayashi’s work sheds light on the ongoing struggles for gender equality in politics and serves as a call to action: women must actively participate in shaping the country’s democracy. Women in Politics is not just a book; it's a tribute to women's political journeys and a compass guiding all citizens toward a future of inclusive leadership and a truly representative democracy. WOMEN'S VOICES WORKSHOP Who is allowed to tell the story? How many heavy gates must a woman open to be able to reclaim her power? How many of these seem invisible? How determining are the role models with which she has grown up? Which ones inspire and which ones hinder her? What is the role of other people's gaze, their privileges, class, race, etc. in her finding her voice? ♥️📚To be part of the conversation, join me next Tuesday 14th May. 📚♥️ More information in my latest newsletter 👇🏻 https://lnkd.in/eJDnytiQ

Happy Women's History Month! Let's celebrate by supporting our fellow women. Here are a few ways to make a difference: ✨ Show your support for small businesses run by women by making a purchase or sharing their social posts on your own platforms. ✨ Request female musical acts on the radio- yes, actually call in! Let's amplify the voices of women in music. ✨ Educate yourself on women's suffrage, moments of overcoming and empowerment. By doing so, we can be inspired and supportive instead of offended. ✨ Tell the women around you how important and valued they are. This is vital! ✨Most importantly, let's make moves to help women coming up behind us. We need each other, and by coming together, we can make a difference. Let's lift each other up and celebrate the achievements of women everywhere. Let’s help all women become forces to be reckoned with! #WomensHistoryMonth
