Great reframe. But I think there’s more to this….. Really loved Sir Andy’s post after exiting the Australian Open. And his personality. 💫 Reframing the loss with a viewpoint that helps him to handle the situation in a better way for him. But I think there’s another point here that’s even more important. ❇️ And that’s his life BEYOND sport. Playing dress up with his kids on a Sunday morning is obviously an absolute joy for him. And family time, I’m sure, will be high up, if not top, of his values. The term ‘life beyond sport’ is often used for retired athletes, and it’s about what they do to create their new life after their sporting career. ✳️ But I think every elite player or athlete should have life beyond sport even when they’re competing. This is where identifying your priorities and values and creating opportunities to develop, explore and have fun away from your sport is so important too. And those non sport activities can even bring more motivation and joy to your training and competing time, rather than putting you off your game. ✴️ So, how is your world outside your playing career looking? Totally agree with 🌟 Ann Bach 🌟 , Andy Murray has reframed his defeat with the best positive. Reframing is a great way to overcome situations that could potentially be blockers for us. For example, when coaching someone on how to deal with rejection (when selling their own product)- a great coach I know asked part way through the coaching conversation ‘if you could call that rejection a different name, what would you call it?’ After some thought the coachee answered ‘I would call it ‘a different choice’ , and that feels ok’. Really quite simple, but hugely effective in enabling that person to continue selling their product without worry. We experience rejection in all walks of life, a lot of the time. Here are three indispensable soft skills to excel in scouting: 1️⃣ ATTENTION 👀: It's crucial in observing, analyzing, and describing players or teams. Technical skills and sensitivity are crucial, but the real difference is made by the attention with which the work is conducted. 2️⃣ DISCRETION 🤫: It's essential in every aspect of the assignment, including logistics. Keeping information about destinations and reasons confidential is vital to avoid problems in negotiations or the conclusion of operations. 3️⃣ METHOD AND PERSONAL ORGANIZATION 📚: Time management, priority setting, and work organization are fundamental for efficient information filing and sharing with the Club.
