#FundingUpdates Fresh From Farm, a B2B2C platform focused on fresh fruit demand, has secured $2 million in its pre-Series A round. The round was led by Ashish Kacholia of LUCKY INVESTMENTS with participation from Inflection Point Ventures. The funding will be used to fuel team growth, enhance their proprietary technology, and introduce new product lines. Notably, Fresh From Farm also facilitated a partial exit for early investors, delivering over 400% returns on their initial investment of Rs 3 crore in the November 2022 seed round. Founded by Rohit Nagdewani, Fresh From Farm leverages technology to predict and balance fruit demand and supply, minimizing waste. Their flagship product, F3, empowers fruit vendors by transforming them into mini-franchises. F3 handles sourcing, grading, and managing the fruit, allowing vendors to focus solely on sales. Fresh From Farm boasts an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of Rs 40 crore and aims to reach Rs 100 crore by the end of the calendar year. This funding propels them forward in a competitive space that includes VEGROW and Ninjacart.

With Finless Foods rumored to be making big cutbacks to conserve cash, New Age Eats shutting up shop after running out of funds, and GOOD Meat sued by its bioreactor supplier over allegedly unpaid bills, the last 12 months have been challenging to say the least for cultivated meat and seafood companies trying to raise capital. As AgFunder crunches the numbers for its upcoming annual global #agrifoodtech investment report, preliminary data shows that funding for cultivated meat startups peaked at $989m in 2021, dipped slightly to $807m in 2022 (bolstered by a $400m round into UPSIDE Foods) and then dropped off sharply in 2023 (-78%) to $177m, against a backdrop of a -50% drop in agrifoodtech investing overall in 2023. #foodtech #cultivatedmeat #cellularagriculture

ForFarmers takes over Van Triest Veevoeders (ABM FN-Dow Jones)  ForFarmers has acquired Van Triest Veevoeders. The listed transport specialist announced this on Saturday afternoon. Van Triest Veevoeders, a family business from Hoogeveen, specializes in trading residual flows. Van Triest trades more than 1 million tons of residual flows annually and has 90 employees. The acquisition concerns the purchasing and sales activities, including the associated storage and transshipment facilities and means of transport. ForFarmers is already active in the supply of residual flows under the name CirQlar. This acquisition fits into ForFarmers' mission For the Future of Farming: by using more and more co-products, we contribute to a sustainable future with affordable and sustainable food by producing dairy, meat, and eggs. The transaction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2024.
