Bethany has learned many things throughout her journey to Wycliffe, but one thing in particular stands out for her: “It’s never too late for you to say ‘yes’ to God.” She said, “God can use people of all ages and all walks of life and all stages of life. There are all sorts of ways that you can serve. Of course you can serve full time. You can also serve part time. You can volunteer. … Do not limit what God can do.” Read more: https://wycliffe.link/391 #ServeWithWycliffe

🍂🤔 Today, let’s differentiate between ‘Thanksgiving’ and the essence of giving thanks. While Thanksgiving has roots in colonial history, often overshadowing the painful experiences of Native Americans, the act of giving thanks transcends this narrative. It’s about gratitude, reflection, and acknowledging blessings in our lives. Let’s use this time to not only express our thanks but also to educate ourselves and honor the true stories of indigenous peoples. Let’s reshape this day into one of awareness, respect, and genuine thankfulness. 🙏🌏 #GivingThanks #ThoughtfulReflection #BeyondThanksgiving #RespectfulRemembrance #thanksgiving #thanksgiving2023

Acknowledging Excellence Acknowledging excellence in people who serve us is not only a gesture of appreciation but also a vital component of fostering a positive and supportive community. Whether it's frontline workers, customer service representatives, or public servants, individuals who dedicate themselves to serving others often go above and beyond their duties to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Recognizing their contributions not only validates their efforts but also inspires others to strive for excellence and contribute to the common good. Moreover, acknowledging excellence in those who serve us helps to cultivate a culture of gratitude, respect, and reciprocity. By expressing appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and compassion of service providers, we reinforce the value of their contributions and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a society. This recognition not only boosts morale and job satisfaction among service providers but also fosters a sense of pride and belonging within the community as a whole. Furthermore, acknowledging excellence in people who serve us can have ripple effects that extend far beyond individual interactions. When we publicly recognize and celebrate acts of service and kindness, we reinforce social norms that prioritize empathy, altruism, and cooperation. This, in turn, encourages others to emulate these behaviors and contribute positively to their communities, creating a virtuous cycle of mutual support and goodwill. In conclusion, acknowledging excellence in people who serve us is not just a nicety but a fundamental aspect of building a compassionate, inclusive, and resilient society. By recognizing and celebrating the efforts of service providers, we honor their contributions, inspire others to follow their example, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a community. Whether through simple expressions of gratitude or formal recognition programs, acknowledging excellence in those who serve us is a powerful way to foster a culture of appreciation, respect, and collaboration that benefits us all.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T Summer in the City can test many. It's brutal. It's muggy, smelly, and emotions on the streets are a little more intense, and don't get me started on the subway... but there should always be a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T. I assume everyone on the plant knows Aretha Franklin's hit song, but how do you live by it? Should respect be earned or should it be given? 🔔 Respect as a basic human right. Every individual deserves respect simply by virtue of being a human being. This emphasizes treating others with kindness, fosters empathy, and helps raise up humanity. 🔔 Earning respect is something that happens over time and it is not automatically granted but must be demonstrated through qualities such as honesty, hard work, competence, and consideration of others. Both respects are necessary, but there needs to be a balance and the key lies in promoting a culture of mutual respect, understanding, and empathy while also recognizing the importance of personal accountability and integrity. Be kind to that elderly neighbor and give up your seat on the subway, so they can take a rest. Work at a food pantry to see how others with less are getting by. Donate your time to help someone in need. That's how I show my RESPECT. The 8 Essential Elements of Beloved Community. 5. Embodiment (through rigorous practice): Beloved Community is not simply a good idea. it is a verb - something we build together. An active creation. In this practice, our visions of Beloved Community beg us to get our hands dirty and figure out how to make it our lived experience - both in how we show up and the things we create. This requires all of us to get out of our heads, into our bodies, and listen to the wisdom of spirit and our ancestors. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing the 8 Essential Elements of Beloved Community and following up each with related questions for all of us to consider, share, engage, and put into practice in our own lives and communities. #Embodiment #Community #BelovedCommunity #MartinLutherKing #MLK #FreePalestine #FromTheRiverToTheSea #BelovedCommunitiesNetwork

In 100 years we will surely be dead, and so will our children. Their children, our grand children, will be in their latter years of life, and perhaps dead…will we be remembered then? Probably not. We will be a name on a family tree… maybe not even that! In as little as 100 years, our “legacy”, whatever that is, will be forgotten. It won’t matter. Living in an unjust system often tempts us to disengage or blend in. But as Dr. Mika Edmondson reminds us, we’re called to actively bring about God's justice. One powerful way to do this is by supporting Family-Supportive Policies, which promote justice and equity for all." We can faithfully work toward a community where every family thrives by advocating for these policies. Let’s stand together in this mission. Learn more about how these policies can make a transformative impact on our communities: 🔗 Watch: "God's Purpose for Families: Learning from Our Family Stories" https://lnkd.in/e5695uSg #SupportFamilies #EconomicStability #HealthyFamilies #WorkforceParticipation #CPJ #ThriveTogether #FamilyPolicy #CommunityImpact
