🚨 Yesterday we had the opportunity to participate and sponsor again the most important event for the video game sector in France, the #Pégases2024 🎮awards of Académie des Arts et Techniques du Jeu Vidéo 🎮
Why is this event important in France?
Let's find out what is beyond a video game, or rather, what is inside a video game and what it means to produce it.
👉 Video games (for consoles, PCs and phones) have become one of the most popular leisure activities in the world, in which France plays a very important role as a world reference, not only in development but also in distribution and training.
✌ Annual figures for the video games industry are reaching record levels: the European market will grow to 24.5 billion euros by 2022. In France, the turnover in 2022 will exceed 5.6 billion euros.
Already in the 1980s, France, with entities such as Infogrames Entertainment, SA and Ubisoft, and the UK with its Rockstar Games, have been at the origin of this industry. Right now in Europe, the France-Germany-Poland axis is a source of employment, which makes this sector strategic for Europe, generating some 110,000 jobs, of which 20,000 are in France. In France, we have around 700 development studios and some 1,200 companies dedicated to video games, which are the main source of employment in the sector.
👌 This sector, which mixes many disciplines (design, scenography, soundtrack, cinema,...) is closely linked to technological evolution, which places it at the forefront of all digital revolutions.
Despite being an industry that in all studies speaks of permanent growth and is linked to the latest generation of technological development, where Artificial Intelligence plays a key role in the technological disruption in which we find ourselves, there are still few public funds that specifically support its development. It is worth noting that the European Commission Programme Horizon Europe , within the @Creative Europe programme (Media ) https://lnkd.in/dgHnr6nU, has only allocated 6 million euros (data from 2022) to video games out of a total budget of 385.6 million. This is not an alarmist figure because there are many other funding alternatives that our FI Group Group helps to define and manage.
🖐 I would like to close this post with the profile of the gamer in France, which as a first impact affects all genders and all ages. The average age is 39, 47% are women and 19% of regular gamers are retired.

Organisé par l’Académie des Arts et Techniques du Jeu Vidéo, cette cérémonie récompensera les meilleures productions de jeux vidéo françaises et internationales de l’année 2023.
Pour rappel, l'année passé FI Group avait été à l'initiative de la création du prix du Pégase de la Meilleure Innovation Technologique. Charlie Grosman, Directeur de l'Innovation chez FI Group, avait eu l'honneur de remettre ce prix à Shiro Games pour leur jeu Dune : Space Wars. 🎮
