The ocean, our life source, needs us. The ocean produces at least 50% of the planet's oxygen, is home to most of Earth's biodiversity, and sustains all life on Earth. Yet, humanity is pushing our planet's blue lungs towards irreversible collapse. With 90% of big fish populations depleted, and 50% of coral reefs destroyed, we are taking more from the ocean than can be replenished. More than ever, we must restore balance and ensure the health of our ocean for future generations. But to Save Our Ocean, we must first understand it. Ocean science and literacy are crucial to better grasping our ocean's pivotal role for humanity and planet Earth. We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a new balance with our ocean and live in harmony with it. Let's not waste it. 8 June is World Oceans Day

Ever wondered how your work setup impacts the planet? Remote workers, like us at LMW HR Group through our Employer of Record (EOR) services, can emit up to 54% fewer greenhouse gases than office commuters. That means every Zoom call and home-coffee break is a small victory for Earth! It's not just about comfy pants; it's about making choices that help our Earth breathe a little easier! #earthday2024 #remotework
Let's all keep making positive change for this amazing planet we call Earth. Happy Earth Day 2024 🌍! #earthday2024 #positivechange #poweredbypeople

The best research in Denmark 2023 (from the Danish magazine Ingenioeren): 2 million ago there were Elefants in Greenland. It is obvious that the planet earth has changed its climate since then and the change helped by the humans and their inventions of the explosion motor, use of fossil fuels and population increase. However, the latter was not the case 2 million years ago. So how do we explain the change in Greenland from then until today and what is the root cause of the icecap smelting (how to separate human impact from the planet's long term earth life cycle)? "The more we know the more questions."

August 1st marks Earth Overshoot Day, the date when humanity’s demand on nature’s resources surpasses the Earth’s capacity to regenerate them for the given year. Humanity is currently using nature 1.7 times faster than our planet’s ecosystems can regenerate. “Ending overshoot is essential. It is also possible, given human potential” (Debora Barioni of Global Footprint Network.) At the most, Planet Earth has only five years left...at the most. And every year the heatwaves will return and last longer and longer. That is the death sentence on Planet Earth. The only way we can stop that from happening is by launching a massive campaign of tree planting everywhere. That is what I believe.

The Earth, our home in the vast cosmos, is a marvel of natural beauty and complexity. Born approximately 4.5 billion years ago, our planet has undergone incredible transformations over its long history. From the fiery chaos of its early formation to the emergence of life forms, including humans, the Earth has been a stage for an epic saga of evolution and adaptation. Its diverse landscapes, from towering mountains to sprawling oceans, harbor an astonishing array of ecosystems, each teeming with life in all its forms. From the microscopic to the majestic, from the depths of the ocean to the heights of the atmosphere, life has found a way to thrive in every corner of our planet. But the story of Earth is not just one of biological diversity. It is also a tale of geological forces, shaping and reshaping the land over millennia. From the slow grind of tectonic plates to the violent upheavals of volcanoes and earthquakes, the Earth's surface is a dynamic canvas on which nature paints its masterpiece. Yet, despite its resilience and magnificence, the Earth is also fragile and vulnerable. Human activities, from deforestation to pollution, have placed immense strain on the planet's ecosystems, threatening the delicate balance of life. Climate change, driven by the burning of fossil fuels and the release of greenhouse gases, poses an existential threat to our planet and all its inhabitants. As we stand at this critical juncture in our planet's history, we are called upon to be stewards of the Earth, to protect and preserve its precious resources for future generations. By embracing sustainability, conservation, and environmental stewardship, we can ensure that the Earth continues to thrive as a vibrant and hospitable home for all life.

🌍 It's Earth Overshoot Day August 1 marks #EarthOvershootDay - the day when our demand for ecological resources exceeds what Earth can regenerate in a year. What does it mean? It means that since the early 1970s, humanity has lived on an ecological credit card. In 1971, Earth Overshoot Day was December 25. Today, it’s August 1. That’s not a good sign. Let’s face it: if we stay on this path, future generations are going to have it rough. We already have it rough. Imagine this intensifying. Let's act now—our planet needs us. 🌱 Check out the Global Footprint Network, they have some great insights on how to make a difference.

Would you pour gasoline down your sink? Not likely. Yet we pour millions of new toxic chemicals into our water - and our lives - on a daily basis. This planetary boundary is all about ending the toxin “free for all”. We need to understand the impact of these new substances before using them indiscriminately. What are the #planetaryboundaries? Imagine a game of Jenga. As we pull out more of the bricks, we🫸🏾 destabilize 🫷🏾the Jenga tower. We're never sure exactly when the tower will fall - but we know if we keep removing bricks, it will eventually reach a 'tipping point'. 🫣 We are in fact treating our planet like a game of Jenga by pulling out the foundations of a strong, stable planet. The actions we take in the next few years will determine if it is 'game over'. 🆘 First published in 2009, the Planetary Boundaries integrate 9️⃣ systems that determine the functioning and the state of the planet. They provide life-support to humans, and include systems we all rely upon, such as clean water, a stable climate, and vibrant biodiversity. 🌎 2024 Tyler Prize winner Johan Rockström helped develop the framework, which has helped shape public response to climate change and sustainable development, including the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
