Fundstrat Global Advisors global head of technical strategy Mark Newton, CMT joins Yahoo Finance's Jared Blikre and Sidney Fried to breakdown the domination of the tech sector and discuss what "buy high, sell higher" means for stock pickers. The strong performance over past year continues. The Select International Alpha Fund returned +1.32% for the month, +19.9% financial-year-to-date (FYTD) and up +23.0% over the past year (net, after fees). The fund is now up +36.9% since London based Mark Hawtin and his team started managing the fund in January 2023. The global Fund OW to quality Tech (including AI and cloud) have been key contributors to the performance. OW include Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN), NVIDIA (NVDA), Intuitive Surgical (ISRG), Alphabet (GOOG), Meta (META), Uber Technologies (UBER) and Netflix (NFLX). The Fund is unhedged vs the USD and remains underweight vs benchmark Consumer Discretionary, Financials and Commercial Real Estate. Current US quarterly reporting season another key reference point on the resilience of the US economy & earnings. Higher for longer rates, strong labour market, stubborn core inflation imply USD strength to persist in short term. 🛬 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗸 after three weeks on the road, flying between South Africa, London, and Ireland. I had the privilege of engaging with some of the best of asset management industry, thought leaders and peers — From BlackRock, Liontrust Asset Management PLC, M&G Investments , State Street Global Advisors, Sands Capital and many many more. Even caught up with fellow content creators like Oktay Kavrak, CFA while in London. Key takeaways? there are a lot of takeaways, AI is the real deal, but the one-way ticket to prosperity has its risks. Power and regulation likely major hurdles and expect major winners and losers as company moats shrink and quality standards evolve rapidly with asset managers needing to keep pace. Stay tuned for the latest insights from all these interactions in my upcoming content pieces, kicking off with this month's 'Grin and Bear It.' that drops this week. Also get the low down on what drove markets in June in a brief light hearted way. Oh, and did you see the performance breakdown of the S&P 500 in June? Elon and Tim Cook finally snuck ahead of Nvidia, celebrating their double-digit gains! 🎉 Make sure to follow 🔔 you don’t miss out on any of the action! #sp500 #June #ai #growthstocks #nvidia #apple #tesla #timcook #elonmusk
