This is not a goodbye.. It is so heartbreaking for me to write this post. It’s hard to believe that one of the best is no longer with us. Today, we honored and celebrated our beloved Mario Silveira and accompanied him on his final journey. May he rest in peace. I wish his family and loved ones strength during this difficult time. He will be very missed. Mario was not only one of the best professionals in the tech industry, but also a great leader, caring father, husband and loyal friend. The countless messages that have reached me, show the place that Mario had in many of our hearts. I believe that in our professional lives, where we dedicate so much of our time, it's important to be surrounded by great people, both internally and externally. Many become companions or even life long friends. Mario is definitely one of the best examples of this. In this time of reflection, I'm left with three points that come to mind: 1. Don’t procrastinate. 2. Love and have Passion for what you do. 3. Fun! Never forget to have fun and to share joy. Mario and I always tried to uphold this, even after working in different companies. While we may not have seen each other often face-to-face, we did enjoy those moment where our paths crossed at industry events or gatherings - even just for a cup of coffee and friendly catch up to say hello. Below is a picture from an event last year in Barcelona, where we took a short break outside. I took a picture of him, because he looked so fulfilled, and he then took a selfie of the two of us. This year, he gave it to me as a puzzle for my birthday. At that time I found it very cheesy since he himself is still prominently in the picture, and I always questioned his creativity, and we laughed so much about it. Today, this is one of the most beautiful memories I have and the most original gift I ever got. We will not forget you, my friend. Dear Yalcin, I am deeply moved by your heartfelt message. Mario Silveira was truly a remarkable individual whose impact extended far beyond his professional achievements. Mario was a true leader and a great human being who never took himself too seriously. It is always the wrong people who leave us too early. Your reflections remind us of the importance of living fully and cherishing the moments we share with those around us. Mario's example and the lessons you've shared are invaluable—don’t procrastinate, love what you do, and always find joy and fun in life. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and personal memory. It’s clear that Mario touched many lives and will be profoundly missed. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to bring warmth and inspiration to us all. With deepest sympathy, René
Such a wonderful, considerate person. Thank you for sharing Yalcin. Mario was a colleague, friend and a great sparing partner on work and life topics while we shared the same office desk. His incredibly premature departure serves as a huge reminder for all of us of the priorities you mentioned and many more. May he rest in peace.
Well written Yalçın and my condolences to his entire family and all strengths to friends and family members. 😞😇
Your message, Yalcin Yilmaz grips all of us with dread and sadness. Mario was a sunny person who radiated his joie de vivre, emotional intelligence and great generosity to others. He was a beautiful person ! This sudden departure reminds us how precious life is, and that we must cherish it at every moment. Mario, we will miss you. Thanks for your beautiful tribute to our ex-Collegue and friend, Yalcin. 🙏
extremely heartbreaking and shocking. Met Mario a couple of days before he passed away at the GTDC meeting in Amsterdam. He also took pictures from me and we shared it afterwards on email making funny comments about us. Thanks for your post, it says it all, very well written.
I'm deeply saddened. Today we gave him the last honor together. Mario was truly an exceptional individual, both professionally and personally. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
What sad news, I had the opportunity to meet Mario and collaborate with him while in different companies. A professional who had all my admiration, always very supportive. All my support in these hard times for his family, colleagues and friends. R.I.P.

1moI am still in shock. 😢 It feels surreal to think that someone so full of energy and life is no longer with us. I remember Mario always being professional and supportive in everything he did. We had long days in the Munich office, and Mario always kept the good spirit up. And looking at your picture - this is the Mario I will always remember!! My heartfelt condolences go out to his family. May they find strength and comfort in the love and memories they shared with him. My thoughts are with them all during this incredibly difficult time.
