The future will continue to see a transformation in AI. Here is why: First, in the old world of AI (before Foundation Models), you would have needed to collect huge amounts of high quality, well labeled data. This was costly, and could easily take months, sometimes years. With foundation models, one can start producing AI with 0 to little training data. Second, again in the old world of AI, usually AI experts like data scientists, AI engineers etc wrote AI algorithms and applications. With foundation models, any developer can produce AI applications. As you can imagine, there are 100-1000 times more developers in the world compared to data scientists. Combining these two factors, one can easily deduce that the future of AI is not linear: it’s exponential… To make it real, we will continue to focus on the developer ecosystem in addition to the data scientist ecosystem, and make the best set of tools available, from models of different modalities, to fine tuning, extensions, grounding, distillation, and more…
