It’s never too late to learn to swim….just ask New York State Senator Jamaal T. Bailey and NYC Councilmember Kevin Riley – who both just recently learned how to swim at the YMCA of Greater New York. Over the course of 8-weeks, the two took part in weekly swim lessons at the Northeast Bronx YMCA along with other NYC and NY State elected officials. After completing each swim lesson, Senator Jamaal T. Bailey admitted to feeling much more “empowered, comfortable, less afraid, less timid.” Before learning to swim, both admitted they were scared of the water but realized they needed to overcome their fears to learn this important life skill. Hear their inspiring story on how they overcame their fears and are leading by example when it comes to the importance of water safety.
