FSE Lifestyle conducts Cultural Sensitivity Workshop for the Ethnic Minorities As an international financial and services hub, the importance of cultural diversity and inclusivity in the business context is growing rapidly in Hong Kong. FSE Lifestyle believes that embracing diversity and inclusion is crucial for creating a multicultural workplace that assures sustainable employment for our workforce. We are thrilled to organize a Cultural Sensitivity Workshop in collaboration with The Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service for our HR professionals on 25th March 2024. We aim to provide them with a thorough and updated understanding towards cultural diversity and the significance of inclusivity. Incivility as a work concept in the Nigerian workplace. With over 9 years work experience, across several industries in Nigeria and 1.5 years in Ghana, I have found "Incivility" as a critical menace against workplace productivity and I fear this is seldomly ever talked about. Often characterized by workplace animosity, lack of respect, lack of defined work-culture and this idea of "the better the employee, the more the work, the lesser the reward", unspoken threats and so on. This scourge needs to openly rejected and thrashed out of the system (Private or Public Sector). In the vibrant tapestry of Nigerian workplaces, fostering a culture of civility is not just a professional necessity but a moral imperative. Incivility corrodes the fabric of our collective professional experience, diminishing the productivity and well-being of every individual. It is incumbent upon us, as members of this dynamic workforce, to recognize the corrosive impact of rude behavior, disrespect, and hostility. Nigerian workplaces, reflective of our rich cultural diversity, thrive on collaboration and unity. Incivility stands as a stark contradiction to these values, breeding discontent and hindering the collective progress we can achieve together. As colleagues, superiors, and subordinates, we must commit to treating each other with courtesy, empathy, and understanding. In embracing a culture of civility, we not only enhance the quality of our professional interactions but also contribute to a harmonious and productive work environment. Let us reject the divisive forces of incivility and instead champion an ethos of respect, kindness, and cooperation. By doing so, we not only elevate our workplaces but also set a powerful precedent for future generations of Nigerian professionals. Your Input Matters: Take Part In Our Respectful Workplace Survey 📝 Myanmar Sustainable Business Network (MSBN) is surveying to gather insights from professionals in NGOs, CSOs, corporations, SMEs, and individual businesses. The aim is to assess workplace respect and inclusivity within organizations in Myanmar. The survey will take 5 - 7 minutes at most and cover topics such as inclusivity, respect, cohesion, expression of views and opinions, discrimination and harassment, and social media policy. By participating, you'll help us identify areas for improvement and encourage reflection on workplace practices. The survey results will be reshared with anyone who participated, and they will be helpful for you and your organization. #Malaysia is going to celebrate her 67th #NationalDay this coming August 31st. But what does this truly mean for you and me? We often hear about the progress we've made, the economic growth, and the beautiful landscapes. But have we truly seen the Malaysia that exists beyond the bustling cities and tourist hotspots? Think about the remote villages in Sabah and Sarawak, where basic necessities like clean water and electricity are still luxuries. Or consider the urban slums, where poverty and inequality are rampant. 🚨 These are the hidden faces of our nation, the ones we often overlook. When we talk about #social and #environmental responsibility, we're not just talking about corporate buzzwords. We're talking about the #interconnectedness of our lives. 🚨 When you suffer, I struggle. And when we struggle, our nation suffers. We cannot simply pay our taxes and expect the government to solve all our problems. We must take #ownership of our society and actively work to address the challenges we face. Poverty, both rural and urban, is the start of a disaster cycle. It leads to social unrest, environmental degradation, and a decline in overall well-being. Is there still hope? Yes, I believe so. We have the APPGM-SDG Secretariat, approved by the 15th Malaysian Parliament to spearhead Sustainable Development Goal (#SDG) initiatives in all constituencies. But we need much more than #government and #NGOs. We need the active participation from the #privatesector. First up, the government has introduced the Progressive Wage Policy (#PWP) pilot program. This is a great step towards ensuring fair wages for workers. Organizations should now step up and take proactive measures to improve the #financial, #emotional, and #mental #wellbeing of their employees. When employees are healthy and happy, they can take better care of their families and contribute more positively to their communities. We need a ripple effect. Remember, no one should be left behind. Every Malaysian deserves a chance to live a fulfilling life. We are more than the sum of all individuals. And when things go wrong, we all will have to pay the price. ✅ Let's start by spreading awareness. The more we understand the issues facing our nation, the more we can do to address them. Once we're informed, we can take action. This could include: ✅ Prioritizing gender equality and inclusivity in all our endeavors. ✅ Supporting organizations working to address poverty, inequality, and environmental issues. ✅ Educating ourselves and others about these issues. ✅ Advocating for policies that promote social justice and environmental sustainability.
