Barbie is poised to dominate the upcoming award season, starting with the Grammys, where the Warner Music Group / Atlantic Records album secured 11 nominations, including standout tracks like Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” and Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night.” Looking ahead to the Oscars, the Mattel, Inc. Inc. franchise will be a juggernaut but it will face a challenge in the best original song category due to a rule limiting nominations to two songs per film. A live performance of “I’m Just Ken" is a no-brainer, but choosing the music for the “Best Orginal Song” will not be easy. Traditionally, awards strategists typically concentrate on submitting a single song per film. Which song(a) should they select for consideration and potential victory? TOTALLY 80's! LUCKY STAR, Madonna. A fun, entertaining music video that takes you back to the eighties with a lot of vintage style "clips". This was actually my practice for what I was going to do, and I always record my practices just in case they turn out good. But this turned out so good so I thought I'd share it. I still have a few more I am currently working on, so stay tuned! (By the way, as a side note, when I do these types of videos, I am telling a story or sending a message through my editing, dancing, music, special effects, etc. See if you can figure out the message woven throughout the video. This, to me, is an art and a way of telling a story and making people happy at the same time by taking them back to a happy time and memories.)

BLACK HOLLYWOOD Lately all I’ve been hearing about, reading about is the unhappy, unsatisfied black actor that isn’t getting the role that they’re acting talent commands or the paycheck with seven or eight digits. It’s so obvious this is still happening in Hollywood. That glass ceiling still exists for some that isn’t classified a (A) lister in Hollywood. By the way, what’s a (A) lister? It’s certainly not a struggling actor trying to find work just to pay the bills and keep a roof over their heads. The few that’s Hollywood’s (A) lister that has a (NAME) that rings dollar signs for the movie producer isn’t extending the olive branch. I certainly don’t see it, except for nepotism. That’s fair? They all do it in some form or fashion. It’s a Hollywood standard for making it in Hollywood. I’m a screenwriter, so I wouldn’t know anything about that. How Hollywood decides on who makes it and who doesn’t. When I write a screenplay, I include more than one race of characters. So it is written. The pay scale is uneven in Hollywood along with opportunities for black actors to showcase their talent, unless you’re on that list of money makers. They goes that dam letter again. How many black actors get a starring role, that when the credits roll at the beginning of movie his or her name is seen first. We can count them on our fingers. A very short list. The chosen few. I say that not to discredit their god even talent. You’d have to be blind not to see it. WHY? Hollywood isn’t the only game in Tinseltown. Black Hollywood is coming sooner than later. The independent film maker has shown this. That’s the word, INDEPENDENT, that means you’re NOT NEEDED ANYMORE. TURNER MEDIA ENTERTAINMENT

Check out these two videos from Pink Floyd's recent 50th anniversary contest, where fans animated music videos based on songs from The Dark Side of the Moon: https://lnkd.in/e8-8B5FX This one (The Great Gig in the Sky) is a monochrome, hand-drawn video that, much like the song it is paired with, uses beautiful abstract visuals to represent the cycle of life and death. There's tons of neat camera tricks and lots of moving visuals. https://lnkd.in/eBeRrcDk This one (Any Colour You Like) is A.I. generated, and obviously so. It has absolutely zero sense of style or object permanence, with objects constantly shifting between forms. Clocks become roulette wheels become strange circular obelisks; guitar amps shift into musical bars, and back again. There is nothing of story or substance, just a series of vaguely-pretty visuals metamorphasizing into rock instruments and planets. Both of these videos were made by individuals. Both of these videos were selected as the winners of their respective category of dozens of entrants by a panel of judges (including members of the band) and awarded 10,000 dollars. But only one of these videos has received an overwhelmingly negative reception from viewers, both Pink Floyd fans and beyond. And I'll let you guess which one that is. It's easy to fall into a pit of dread-fueled imposter syndrome as an artist; the idea that the things you make will always be overshadowed by something bright and colorful, generated in a fraction of the time. But I think this controversy shows the opposite: that people are moving past the hype phase of a new technology and beginning to understand and vocalize the issues they have with it. That, like judging a photograph against a painting, it's unethical to judge something generated through machine learning against something made by human hands over hundreds of hours; and that it's *especially* unethical to do so when money (it's a gas) and exposure get involved. What I'm trying to say is that real art is always going to win out in the end. Just because something looks pretty or was made in a novel way doesn't mean it has any substance. It may take a while, but soon this hype cycle will end and the grifters will find a new get-rich-quick scheme; then we can pick up the pieces and actually start doing interesting things with an interesting (and hopefully more ethical) new tool. The pretty A.I. pictures will get lost in a sea of hundreds of thousands of other identical pretty A.I. pictures, and the works of art created by real people with real souls and real voices will rise to the top. Why rebuild something that didn’t work as planned? Honda paved a road in Lancaster, California, that played the William Tell Overture if a car was driving at 55 mph for an advertising campaign. The commercial aired back in 2008 and the road has remained a popular attraction ever since. It was relocated due to residential neighbors complaints to a state highway. Unfortunately, humans and nature are not perfect. Miscommunication made the grooves paved at the wrong distance from each other. Rather than carving a groove every 4 inches as was meant to be done to achieve the correct notes, the grooves were carved 4 inches apart from each other. This meant that the width of a groove itself was added to the 4 inch distance, making the Musical Road’s grooves not every 4 inches apart but every 4 inches plus the width of the groove. When they moved the idea to another location though, they reinstalled the grooves at the same incorrect widths.
