Hey, thank you so much for stopping by the Positron GitHub repository. Positron is still an early stage project, but we're really excited about this future of building a next generation data science IDE. Importantly, this tool is extensible, a polyglot tool, so it works for both R and Python out-of-the-box, and we're planning to expand that to other languages in the future. While it's early stage project, you can read a little bit about our documentation through our wiki. O if you go here on the README, you can check out the wiki. There's also an FAQ for some frequently asked questions. And importantly, Aaron is built on code open source. This is essentially the same source code as Visual Studio Code. So this gives you a very similar commands like setting up a text editor settings using source control. And if you'd like to learn more about that, you can actually see the VS Code documentation today. If you want to install Positron, go to our releases page where we're building for Mac, Windows, and Linux. If you have feedback, questions or otherwise want to talk to us, please open up a GitHub discussion. Or if you run into a bug, feel free to open up an issue and we can talk through kind of what we're going to do for today versus things in the future. Now, with that said, I'd like to hop over into a quick positron session. So this might be what you see when you first drop into positron. It might feel kind of like that blinking cursor where you don't quite know what to do. But to make it a little bit more friendly, we can open the command palette with command shift P and switch to the stacked layout view. And this view we have source pane where you can write your code and R or Python you have an integrated console that again supports either our Python natively without having to call it through something else. A variable is paying for objects that you stored in memory. As a plots pain of your pain, connections, pain, all sorts of different things specific to data science work. You also have access to thousands of community extensions. We use Open VSDX as the marketplace for extensions for Positron, and you can search for things like Cordo if you wanted to install that and install it into Patron. Now, while this hopefully give you a brief overview of what the interface might look like, I want to show you a little bit more of a real example. So this is another positron session here. I've already executed some code in R Python. The QR code again allows for rich editing and you can have things like help in line just as you expect with Python code where you can hover over different things and observe the help for that specific file or that specific function in the plots pane, which is we're actually generated a graphic in this case for Python, I can do things like customize the size or save it out or copy it. And then for R have the same idea of like in this plot pane, I don't have to worry about which language it is, just, you know, plots will go to here. I have my data that is object stored memory. I could between R and Python And you might notice that a few different parts like the console Switcher and the runtime Switcher here allow you to choose between, you know, the data science language you you want. So here I'm using a virtual environment for this demo, but I could also choose between a bunch of different global pythons or different virtual environments. Been working on and similarly in RI. Can use tools like rig to manage multiple our installations on my machine. And switch between them as I see fit. Beyond some of these kind of basic ideas, we also have things like a rich data viewer, in this case a data explorer that allows you to do things like not only look at the data, but also sort, you know, add specific filters based upon, you know, the type of data that you're looking at, apply those filters, and even move across millions of rows of data really quickly in both R or Python. So this has been a really brief overview of what Positron might offer you. And again, early stage project, but we're really excited for you to be here, try things out, give us feedback and kind of go along with us as we start building things out. Thanks.
