One of the most powerful things a hiring manager can do is to call a new hire after they accept a position. The gesture goes a long way to make the new hire feel welcomed and valued even before they start. It's an opportunity to congratulate them and offer any additional information or support they may need as they transition into their new role. Most importantly, it sets the stage for open communication and a positive working relationship between the new hire and their manager. #executivesearch #fmcg #cpg

I get asked a lot by people, what’s the biggest thing that’s held you back in building a business? And I would always say being totally rubbish at shouting about the fact I am really good at what I do. I always thought that if I just got on and was just really awesome at recruitment then everybody would somehow know that 😂 Looking back this is nonsense. It’s a big wide world out there with lots of other people in it who are also really good at what they do as well. So if you want to get on you’ve got to shout really really loudly about it. You can apply this to work and getting a promotion or a new job. If people don’t know you are the best at something then they aren’t gonna come to you. You have to be known to be the best at it as well. So get out your megaphone 📢 and shout. You’re not being arrogant or showing off, it’s about letting the world know your awesome at something, you’re an expert, top tier, elite. That’s something to be proud about, not hidden away under a rock 🐔 #fmcg #hiring #culture #hiring

Certified Google Cybersecurity Professional | Experienced in Operational Optimization and Compliance Management | Equipped with Problem-Solving and Collaboration Skills.
I think my background in retail management and sales helps me make this journey into cybersecurity. Transitioning from retail management to cybersecurity might seem like a big shift, but there are several transferable skills that can be valuable in both fields. The following are some that come to mind. 1. **Customer Service & Communication:** In retail, I’ve honed my ability to interact with customers and resolve issues. In cybersecurity, these skills translate to communicating security policies, training users, and working with teams to address security concerns. 2. **Problem-Solving:** Retail management involves handling unexpected challenges( don’t get me started on holiday season), which is crucial in cybersecurity when responding to security incidents, analyzing threats, and troubleshooting systems. 3. **Attention to Detail:** Managing inventory, financials, and staffing requires precision. In cybersecurity, attention to detail is essential for identifying vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance, and maintaining accurate records. 4. **Leadership & Team Management:** Leading a retail team involves delegation, motivation, and conflict resolution. These leadership skills are vital in cybersecurity roles that require managing teams, projects, or security operations. 5. **Time Management:** Retail management demands balancing multiple tasks and priorities. In cybersecurity, effective time management helps in monitoring systems, managing incidents, and meeting deadlines. 6. **Compliance & Policy Adherence:** Retail managers often ensure compliance with company policies and regulations, similar to how cybersecurity professionals enforce security policies and industry regulations. 7. **Risk Management:** Understanding business risks in retail, like shrinkage or customer dissatisfaction, aligns with identifying and mitigating cybersecurity risks.
