Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, the historic day when news of freedom finally reached enslaved people in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865. We honor this day by reflecting and honoring the history that impacts our world as we continue working together to create a brighter, more inclusive future. For Youth INC, today also commemorates the beginning of our program Rise Academy for Leaders of Color started by Tracie Gilstrap Marshall in 2020. This program helps shift the landscape for ascendant Black Indigenous People of Color nonprofit leaders of youth development organizations by honing their leadership skills while assessing and improving the organizational culture and systems in which they operate. #RaisingOurCity #Juneteenth
