The hardest part about being a creator is always being up to date. You need to be on the ball. - What's relevant? - What skills do I need to adapt? - What social media platform do I need to leverage more? - What content format am I not using? - What's the data saying? It takes a lot of time to not only write content, but update your knowledge so that your personal brand doesn't burn out. That's why a lot of CEOs and companies hire creative directors. They can do the hard work of thinking for you when it comes to creating relevant content. Content creation is an entire industry that is only going to get harder to keep up with. Once upon a time, a first date referred to my job as "comms". I smiled and took another sip of my drink, deciding it was too soon to get into why that wasn't entirely accurate 🫠 Comms is a critical discipline needed to create impact. The best research, campaigns, projects and initiatives I've witnessed in my career would be nothing without the brilliant communications brains bringing them to life. 💯 Seriously: nothing. And yet I often see it forgetfully added to the end of project proposals, boxed into tight spaces and tied to assumptions around vanity metrics. Comms is often an easy budget cut and takes fierce justification to secure its value in the eyes of some. ✨ Comms is ONE, intrinsic aspect of Storytelling. But it sits alongside others: participatory research, design, evidence generation, content creation, narrative change and advocacy, all supercharged by meta skills such as critical thinking, adaptability and listening. Storytelling at Brink is multidisciplinary and medium-agnostic. We are creative, curious nerds who unlock, create, amplify and hear. The work we do is fairly uncharted and we thrive on that. 💡 Why am I telling you this? Because I'm hiring for a Storytelling Executive. It's not a marketing role. It's not a social media role.
