A positive case study for heat pumps in UK housing Six years after a Derby social housing development saw the installation of Vaillant UK’s aroTHERM air source heat pumps in 54 flats, the predicted benefits are continuing to be realised. From ongoing energy cost savings and tenant satisfaction to a collaborative partnership between Vaillant UK and Derby Homes, the retrofit scheme has been positively received by all stakeholders, as Local Authority Building & Maintenance finds out. Shaun Bennett, Director of Property for Derby Homes, says: “Working with Vaillant gave us the initial confidence to understand and fully embrace the new technology, including the fact that the aroTHERM solution could be installed on the balconies of each flat. "Six years on we have a proven record for a reliable heating solution that is straightforward to use for the tenants and easy to maintain for our team of installers. Proud to share a case sudy (contact us for the full case study) from our project at AB Vassilopoulos, where we have successfully installed the Munters EC Cool evaporative cooling system to optimize refrigeration efficiency. As General Refrigeration SA, we are thrilled with the outcomes. Project Highlights: - Enhanced Cooling Capacity: The evaporative precooling system significantly reduced the condenser’s inlet air temperature, leading to improved cooling performance. - Energy Savings: Achieved up to 20% energy savings at ambient temperatures around 32°C, demonstrating the system’s efficiency. - Extended Equipment Lifespan: Lower operating temperatures reduced wear and tear on components, ensuring longer system life and fewer malfunctions. - Sustainability: Reduced energy consumption translated to lower operational costs and decreased greenhouse gas emissions.
