It's scamming season, everyone! Think twice and look for red flags whenever you read a job description, fill a form, receive an email from an unknown source, or get reached out by "potential clients". Companies don't mind about it as long as there's profit, government institutions only care for their cut, and people are desperate to survive in this messed up world. Yes, scammer is an actual job these days, hidden under fancy words in a title. I get it, in a world filled with frauds, it may seem that joining the gang is the only choice. Still, I refuse to do so and will continue to denounce it. In the last few weeks, I've noticed a significant increase of fake profiles on this platform, and many others. Is there anything we can do? They're getting more clever every day. But, you just need to give it some thought: - Do you need to know my marital status or what kind of pet I like to apply for a job? - I never signed up for your "newsletter", how come you're offering the deal of a lifetime? - You don't know me, how is it that you want to hire my services without even knowing my skills, areas of expertise, or having had a serious conversation? People have to endure a ton of weird interviews for a job, and these "clients" just want to give you money? It's a very sad situation and technology is only helping scammers be more effective; no one's really using it to fight them. The solution is simple. Do what humans are supposed to do: think! Does this make any sense or is it just me? #fraudprevention #scamprevention #redflags

A couple of things I found out today that you may benefit from (or, if you already know, so much the better!) If you're on Indeed looking for work, even if you opted into all forms of communication, they do not let you know if an employer has messaged you. Not so much as a badge by your inbox icon when you log in. So if you're using Indeed, make sure you open the site and click to open your inbox daily. The other thing is that text scammers and InMail message scammers here on LI seem to be on the rise right now. They will message you saying they got your info on Indeed or LI, but when you ask them to identify their job listing on that platform, they don't have a listing. The job also isn't listed on the website of the company they purport to represent, or if it is, there is a mismatch with what they've told you in terms of pay, location, etc. They're pushy, they're vague, and you always get a feeling that something is wrong. Don't ignore that feeling. I've blocked two of these scammers within the past week. I've also reported them to the Federal Trade Commission. Here is the link where you can report job scams. I highly encourage you to report any that you receive. https://lnkd.in/eCwccasA

🚨 Beware of Scams on LinkedIn! 🚨 In today's digitally connected world, scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their techniques to exploit unsuspecting users for personal or financial gain. Here are some common scams you should watch out for on LinkedIn: 1️⃣ Connection Request Scams: Scammers send fake connection requests, often posing as recruiters or professionals in your industry. Once connected, they may attempt to phish for personal information or send malicious links. Be cautious when accepting connection requests from unknown profiles. 2️⃣ Job Offer Scams: Scammers impersonate company representatives and offer enticing job opportunities that don't actually exist. They might ask for personal details or upfront fees and then disappear, causing potential financial or personal harm. Always verify job offers with the company directly. 3️⃣ Investment Scams: Be cautious of individuals posing as financial advisors, stockbrokers, or investors who promise high returns with low risk. Many of these are Ponzi schemes, and victims often end up losing their hard-earned money. Always conduct thorough research before considering any investment opportunity. Stay vigilant and protect yourself from these scams. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is! 🔒 #LinkedInSafety #ScamAlert #StaySafeOnline #Northstar #Leadingtheway
