As we prepare for our awards ceremony, I started to think about the importance and impact of celebrating success and employee recognition. As professionals, we often underestimate the power of a positive work culture. But the truth is, it can make a huge impact on our overall success and well-being. A positive work culture promotes collaboration, creativity, and innovation. It fosters a sense of belonging and motivates employees to go above and beyond in their roles. When employees feel supported and valued, they are more likely to be engaged and productive. Not only does a positive work culture benefit employees, but it also has a direct impact on the bottom line. Companies with a strong culture have lower turnover rates, higher employee satisfaction, and better overall performance. So, let's prioritise creating a positive work culture in our organisations. 🙌 Was such a pleasure moderating this panel at The PEER 150 Annual Summit last month with Brad Margolis, Ph.D. (former CPO at Fortis Games); Lisa Paul (CPO at Pulmonx Corporation) and Mary A. Burke (SVP HR at Experian.) ⚖ In a challenging economic climate we have certainly seen the pendulum shift from an era of blitz-scaling and hyper growth to one with RIFs and hiring freezes. This brings with it a different set of challenges for people leaders which we explored on our panel. The focus has shifted therefore from just talent acquisition to talent activation (making the most out of the people you have.) Some of the issues we touched on included: 🏣 the 'return to office' debate and the challenges that poses for employee engagement; equally how you engage people in a hybrid/remote world 💓 aligning company values with talent activation activities ⏰ how to foster a culture of continuous development Thanks to all my amazing panellists for a super fascinating discussion! Couldn’t agree with this sentiment more! A robust recognition strategy supports organizational goals (like retention!) while also helping leaders authentically connect with their people. My take: people who truly feel seen, valued and appreciated for who they are and what they bring to the table (and have the role/schedule/pay/benefits that fit their personal needs) are probably not actively looking for new opportunities. #recognitionmatters #culture #recognition #appreciation
