📣 Ziwig Biotech will be present at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the largest international congress dedicated to infertility. Endometriosis is a multifactorial disease that affects 10% to 15% of women of reproductive age and is one of the leading causes of infertility. 🔬 Complex to diagnose, patients with endometriosis experience a painful medical wandering (8 to 12 years on average, depending on the country), detrimental to the proper management of their conception difficulties. At the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) 39th Annual Meeting this past June, our research that studied the question, "What is the effect of time-point on performance of a non-invasive artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm for evaluating embryo genetic status?" was presented. This study concluded that, while predictive ability was maintained across different time-points on day five, optimal performance for ranking and selecting euploid embryos was observed at 120 hours post-fertilization. We are very happy and proud that our Master student Q’antu Arteaga Sánchez has been nominated for finals of the Premis als Millors Treballs de Màster/Postgrau (2023-2024) of the Pompeu Fabra University – Barcelona School of Management in the category of Best Research Project. In her thesis, she has investigated the different possibilities for applying PRP (platelet-rich plasma) as part of the treatment of inflammatory diseases leading to infertility. The master's program is a collaboration between Pompeu Fabra University and the Eugin Group, offering a specialized master's education with a focus on fertility and embryology every year. #fertility #PRP #inflammation

In this article, Jeremy (Ching-Chien) Chang and colleagues at research centres in Taiwan use a model system to investigate whether maturing metaphase I (MI) oocytes can be fertilized by sperm and support embryonic development. Their results support the notion that MI-COCs can be fertilized and support term development, albeit at much lower success rates than those achieved by fully matured MII-COCs. Therefore, they suggest that MI-COCs may represent a valuable source of “usable” biomaterial in assisted reproduction.
