I joined Coda as a Customer Champion back in 2020 (three years at the end of this month!). About a year and a half in, I joined our People Operations team. My entire career in tech prior had been in customer support so an initial question was “What new tools do I have to learn now?” Turns out it was close to none because we use Coda! Sure there are a handful of other apps and platforms but the majority of my time is spent in a Coda doc when it comes to onboarding since we had built out our own tooling that integrates with Gmail. In our onboarding doc, you collect information from recruiters, keep track of the many various tasks, and send emails to managers and new hires with a push of a button. It’s all in one! My favorite part by far is the compose feature: draft your content to include all the must-haves that apply to every new hire but personalize it by referencing what you need: name, manager, start date, onboarding buddy, etc. This is already included in the information provided by the recruiting team and even better, it’s all kept in one database. Push the email button and 💥 email sent. It’s organized and fun! I made a template of our new hire onboarding tracker and email messenger if you’d like to make a copy and try it out for yourself:
