The proprietary additives developed by Nemo Nanomaterials are based on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) and can be mass produced in order to supplement a large range of parts. The company’s new production line will allow it to produce 50 tons of its NemoBLEND annually, while already planning a new facility that will allow it to produce hundreds of tons each year – expected to go online in 2025. I'm thrilled to share my recent publication of my latest research titled "Intermixing of MoS2 and WS2 photocatalysts toward methylene blue photodegradation" in the Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology. In this study, we explored the visible-light-driven photocatalysis using layered materials for the degradation of organic dyes. Our research focused on transition-metal dichalcogenides, MoS2 and WS2, prepared by chemical vapor deposition and their intermixing for photodegradation (PD) of methylene blue under solar simulator irradiation. These results underscore the advantageous outcomes of intermixing WS2 and MoS2, shedding light on the development of an efficient and enduring photocatalyst for visible-light-driven photodegradation of methylene blue. Glad to see our membrane technology expertise also contributes to solving textile recycling challenges. VITO researcher Buekenhoudt Anita: "Textile recycling is now high on the political agenda. Different consortia worldwide are working on innovative technologies, making smart combinations of mechanical and chemical process steps. Within the framework of the European Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) INNOMEM, and in subcontract of a large Danish project, the SolTex project showed that ceramic membranes are excellent to recycle solvents that are typically used in textile recycling, in an efficient and economic way. We are glad to present our work on nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs) with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs)-based nanocomposites for environmental applications, using plasma engineering. In this study, we found that 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), which is poisonous, may be catalytically reduced by produced NGQD/AuNP nanocomposites to 4-aminophenol (4-AP), a useful medicinal intermediate. We are proud to announce that our GREENCAP partners (UNISTRA, in collaboration with TUD, TCD, and BED) have completed work focused on functionalization of MXene and graphene materials, and demonstrating improved electrochemical properties. Key findings from this work include: - Functionalization of Ti3C2Tx MXene with small organic molecules. - Functionalization of V2C MXene using diazonium salts to enhance K+ storage performance. - In-situ functionalization of MXene surfaces with borate polyanion groups through a flux-assisted eutectic molten etching approach. - Improvement of electrochemical performance of graphene-based supercapacitors via high-pressure homogenization and wet-jet milling.
