"All In" on Wonder

"All In" on Wonder

Since leaving Walmart nearly a year ago, I’ve had my hands in a lot of start-ups and ventures, but there’s one that has truly inspired me.

Wonder is an exciting new approach to in-home dining that combines the convenience of delivery with the quality of the best dine-in restaurants. It has a real opportunity not only to completely change how people eat, but also to create a better future by giving them access to the world’s best food — with nutritious options — in a convenient, affordable, and sustainable way.

I believe in Wonder’s mission and am confident that together with this incredible team, we can make a genuine, positive impact on the world. With that, I’ve decided to go “all in” and fully commit my time as Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Wonder Group.

Family meals are precious. But when time is tight, the first thing to go is a wholesome meal in favor of something rushed, like fast food or highly-processed microwave dinners. Those choices are rarely nutritious, the food is often mediocre, and the prices can be high.

At Wonder, we envision a future where anyone can easily access the world’s best food — anytime, anywhere. And while we’re focused on providing delicious food at affordable prices in the present, we’re equally passionate about creating a future where our food is even more nutritious, and our company even more sustainable.

Our innovative, vertically-integrated approach begins with exclusive menus from the country’s best chefs and restaurants. A central commissary sources high-quality, fresh ingredients and serves as the start of each meal’s journey. Orders are then fired, finished, and plated in our mobile kitchens just steps away from your door, and served as soon as they’re ready — allowing you to experience the food the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.

Wonder has menus for every eater and every occasion — from family style dining, to salads and burgers, and even a perfectly prepared steak. We identify top chefs across every cuisine and acquire the exclusive rights to their menus. From there, we collaborate with them and truly learn the recipes and techniques used to create their beloved dishes. Given our model, we then leverage our proprietary R&D process to ensure quality at scale.

We’ve worked with Bobby Flay to recreate the bold flavors of Bobby Flay Steak. Chef Nancy Silverton has taught us the secrets behind Pizzeria Mozza’s acclaimed pizza and pasta. We’ve collaborated with sushi master Daisuke Nakazawa on specialty rolls as well as Japanese classics. And we bring every one of these restaurant experiences right to customers’ front doors, hot off our mobile kitchens.

But we’re not stopping there. We’re continuing to add award-winning chef partners…like Marcus Samuelsson, with whom we’re developing a Wonder-exclusive concept right now. I can’t wait for our customers to try it.

In addition to cooking meals in mobile kitchens just outside your door, we also offer some of your favorite dishes from local eateries. Because whenever Wonder begins serving a new town, we also partner with the top restaurants in the community through our unique courier service, Envoy.

Fueling our vision will require a lot of capital and thoughtfulness as we grow. We’ve raised venture capital from premier partners, including NEA, Accel, GV, General Catalyst, and Bain Capital Ventures.

We’ve also put together a world-class team of diverse people who are empowered every day — proven entrepreneurs, some of the world’s greatest chefs and culinary experts, and talented innovators from every area of the business. Together, we’re aligned under our mission of bringing “wonder” to every meal, and are building a culture dedicated to living our three core values — Mastery, Compassion, and Courage — better than any other company in the world.

Super exciting business. Congrats!

I loved Marc's mobile kitchen so much that I purchased one after he changed his dynamics of food service from Brick and Mortar. The turbochef stove was not in it. Oh well. He gave me so many ideas to not be just a regular guy, but continue to strive to make this world of ours a better place. I may not even continue to use the truck for it's original intended purpose. One Love Marc Lore!!! Power to the Dads. P.S. My children are grown and I am trying to influence them to work together which is more powerful than anything in this world ... God and Family!!!
