A Big Week for Delivering Ford+

A Big Week for Delivering Ford+

Last week was a big week at Ford! From announcing a major new partnership with Tesla on electric vehicle charging, to celebrating the launch of our new Super Duty truck, to updating our investors on our strategy and progress – the week was a great example of what our Ford+ plan looks like in action.

I joined Elon Musk on Twitter one evening to announce an agreement to provide Ford electric vehicle owners with access to over 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada. This is a huge deal – both for our everyday retail customers, and for Ford Pro commercial customers. It more than doubles the number of fast-chargers available to them starting early next year and provides unprecedented access to the largest network of fast-chargers in North America. We’re also adding roughly 1,800 public-facing fast-chargers at our dealers to the BlueOval Charge Network within the same timeframe. Listen to my Twitter Spaces conversation with Elon here.

Starting early next year, our Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit customers will be able to access the 12,000 Tesla Superchargers with an adapter. Then in 2025, we’ll start to equip future EVs with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector built-in. This is where we’re placing our bet on charging – we believe that NACS should be the standard in the U.S., and that the result will be a superior customer experience.

Earlier that day, I also spoke at the Morgan Stanley Sustainable Financing Summit with Regina Savage. Transitioning to carbon-neutral transportation and the green economy will be an “all-hands-on-deck” undertaking. That’s why we’re working with a wide range of partners as we rebuild the supply chain for critical raw materials, make major investments in charging infrastructure, and focus on meeting diverse customer needs with both gas- and electric-powered vehicles.

Earlier in the week, I was with our incredible team at Kentucky Truck Plant as we launched the all-new Ford Super Duty – built by our hardworking UAW partners. Super Duty customers are the backbone of our economy. From tradespeople and utilities to farmers and first responders. And this truck is ready for them – with embedded 5G technology, a Ford Pro Upfit Integration system, and the full Ford Pro suite of software and services to save them time and money. I’m so proud that our team worked hard to deliver a truck that meets the quality standard these customers deserve.

And at the start of last week, we took the investment community through our strategy and the progress we’re making against our Ford+ plan. Ford is a different company today than we were two years ago. We’re playing the game differently and we have new tools. We’re focusing on what we do better than anyone else, simplifying our products, learning from the data in our connected vehicles, and expanding services beyond the vehicle and throughout the ownership life cycle. We’re confident this approach will give us two things we’ve never had – profit streams that don’t dry up in a downturn, and the opportunity to grow. How did Wall Street react? I would say they understand our strategy but are now waiting to see if we can execute. And that’s exactly what we plan to do.

With our three strong core automotive businesses together, we have a new Ford coming to life. And with exceptional new colleagues joining our strong existing team, we're winning the competition for talent in a way we haven’t in a long time. If the idea of revolutionizing a product that is woven into the fabric of lives all around the world excites you, come join us.

Hello, Jim. Trucks don't do well on electricity--cleaner and better range on renewable fuel. More that half of U.S. electricity is made by burning fossil fuels.---> means dirty EVs
