Bringing better care into the New Year, block by block.

2019 was an astounding year for me, alongside my co-founders Toyin Ajayi and Bay Gross, as we saw the Cityblock team and community grow and evolve in ways even we couldn’t have imagined. We’ve had moments that have tested us and moments that have brought us our most exhilarating accomplishments. And through it all, we’ve been fortunate to have a dynamic team that is deeply dedicated to tackling the challenges and sharing in the wins together.

It was a year of incredible growth, learning, inspiration, excitement, and opportunity for us as founders and leaders. The team tripled in size to 350 incredible teammates, including world-class technologists, clinicians, operators, business leaders, community health experts, and more. They joined us to be a part of bringing about real change. They have dedicated their skills, time, and enthusiasm to further our mission. And they are working every day to radically transform health in the communities we serve. 

We’ve shared moments of great challenge.  Of uncertainty. Of triumph. Of friendship. Of joy. And perhaps above all, of community. 

In the past year, we established and launched new partnerships across the country. We served thousands of new members and had the privilege to care for them 38,000 times in these 12 months. We have felt honored to hear members express appreciation for their care teams and the impact of Cityblock care on their lives, as reflected in their personal stories and our consistently outstanding member experience scores. With every chance we have to see these stories unfold, we are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to change peoples’ lives for the better.

As we embark on 2020, we look forward to a year that will be pivotal both for Cityblock and for our country as a whole. We feel incredible optimism that this team—alongside exceptional and committed partners, tremendously supportive investors and friends, and most importantly, the communities with which we partner—can together achieve lasting, tangible positive impact in improving community health where it’s needed most. 

We look forward to a year that brings continued learning, an even stronger team and community that values and respects each other deeply, and the ability to bring even more members the care they deserve. We have so much to look forward to in 2020, and we can’t wait to see what’s ahead. Onward!
