Celebrating National Intern Day: Meet Pinnacle's Talented Summer Interns!

Today is a special day at Pinnacle Clinical Research as we join the celebration of #NationalInternDay! It's an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the incredible contributions made by our talented interns who play a significant role in our mission to advance medical knowledge and patient care. Get to know some of the bright minds who have been making a difference at Pinnacle this Summer.

1. Miguel Gutierrez-Veloz - Research Intern

Miguel Gutierrez-Veloz, Research Intern at STRI

 Miguel's passion for medical research and attention to detail have been instrumental in supporting our clinical trials. Miguel is a current student at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and hopes to continue his passion for healthcare by going to PA School after the completion of his undergraduate degree.

"What I love best about working with STRI is the incredible team of people. Everyone there is highly knowledgeable, and there Is no day I don’t learn something new from them all. Shadowing is also something that I love about working with STRI; I get to see how things are done and the procedure that must be taken place, from procedures done to patients to the work in the lab."

What advice would you give to future interns at Pinnacle Clinical Research at South Texas Research Institute?

"Approach each day with a positive attitude, be eager to learn new things, ask a lot of questions, and have fun."

What are 3 things that get you through your workday?

"Three things that get me through my workday are time management, prioritization of tasks, and positive environment."

2. John Luke Godino - Research Intern

John is an ambitious and driven individual who has been a key role team member at our Austin office.

John is an upcoming senior at St. Edwards University. His career goal is to continue his passion for healthcare and go into the dentistry healthcare field.


"My coworkers are the best aspect of my time here. Even in the short time I have been here I feel welcomed. I enjoyed the get togethers such as the NASH day awareness and our 4th of July potluck." 

What advice would you give to future interns at Pinnacle Clinical Research?

"Do not be afraid to ask for clarification or help with your tasks if you feel unsure. It helps with your peace of mind and the quality of your work."

What are 3 things that get you through your workday?

"Three things that get me through my workday are caffeine, Altoid mints, and podcasts."

3. Maddie Knott - Research Intern

Maddie has been a dynamic team, eager to make a positive impact on our research. Maddie is a senior at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She plans to go to medical school, get her MD, and eventually open her own practice.



"Interns are genuinely valued while working with PCR! Dr. Delaney, one of the principal investigators, has always been readily available to ask questions and truly takes the interns’ opinions into consideration when making decisions. I have really enjoyed working with a company where I can have a positive impact, despite only being a summer intern."  

What advice would you give to future interns at Pinnacle Clinical Research?

"Be super observative and ask a ton of questions! There is always so much going on and so much to learn. Nobody expects you to be perfect at your job right away, and every employee wants to answer your questions and help you make the most out of your time at Pinnacle! Do not be afraid to ask if you are confused or curious!"

What are 3 things that get you through your workday?

"Three things that get me through my workday are my Stanley Cup, Dr. Rudraraju's candy bowl, and great coworkers!"

4. Viraj Singh - Registry Intern

Viraj is a returning intern who enriches Pinnacle and our research every year. Viraj has his Bachelor's in Science in Public Health from Texas A&M and is in the process of receiving his Master of Public Health from Texas A&M in 2024. His ideal job would be a position where he can contribute to policy development for positive health outcomes for underserved communities.

"What I love most about working with Pinnacle is the staff is always fun to interact with. I love that I am making a positive impact within my community by aiding in research, and I love Breakfast Tacos Friday."

What advice would you give to future interns at Pinnacle Clinical Research?

"Be motivated to help, talk to everyone with a smile and introduce yourself, take notes, and be organized."

What are 3 things that get you through your workday?

"Three things that get me through my workday are my green Hydro Flask water bottle, Spotify playlists, and Airpods!"

5. Gia Hovland - Marketing Intern

Gia is a bright, creative, and ambitious returning intern, eager to make a positive impact on Pinnacle's marketing team. She is a current student at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. She hopes to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and RN. Her collaborative spirit and eagerness to learn make her an exceptional intern.

"Working in marketing allows me to tap into my creative side. I enjoy brainstorming ideas for campaigns, designing visuals, and crafting compelling content to engage and attract customers. Marketing is a dynamic field that is constantly evolving. As an intern, I have opportunity to learn about various marketing strategies, techniques, and tools."

What advice would you give to future interns at Pinnacle Clinical Research?

"Take initiative and seek out opportunities to contribute. Don’t wait for instructions; instead look for ways to add value, offer your ideas, and take on new responsibilities. Being proactive shows your enthusiasm and dedication to your role."

What are 3 things that get you through your workday?

"Three things that get me through my workday are my to-do list, listening to music, and podcasts!"

6. Anish Kankipati - Registry Intern

Anish, a returning intern, brings a wealth of talent and creativity to Pinnacle. Anish is a student at Texas A&M. His career goal is to continue his education, attend medical school, and become a medical physician.

"My favorite thing about working at Pinnacle is the work environment and the people I get to work with on a daily basis."

What advice would you give to future interns at Pinnacle Clinical Research?

"Be yourself and have fun while you work because the work environment is great. Just make sure to also stay focused and get through the work that you need to get done to help make a difference."

"What I love most about working with Pinnacle at STRI is the fact that I get to give back to my community while gaining essential laboratory and research experience. Pinnacle combines medical expertise with a passion for making healthcare and new treatments more accessible to the public."

What advice would you give future interns at Pinnacle Clinical Research at South Texas Research Institute?

"Be curious! Don't be afraid to ask questions and try to be as involved as possible. The staff at STRI are very knowledgeable and excited to share their knowledge with you, so make sure to make the best out of your internship."

What are 3 things that get you through your workday?

"Three things that get me through my workday are my dance class after my internship, the gym, and getting my good night's sleep!"
