Celebrating Sameenah Ahmad: A Journey from Haverford College to Spark Therapeutics

Our inspiring intern story this month features Sameenah Ahmad, a Biology major at Haverford College from Philadelphia. Coming from a big family of nine siblings, Sameenah loves to read and travel. Her journey with Project Onramp began through Heights Philadelphia, and she’s now in her second summer interning at Spark Therapeutics, Inc. .

Sameenah’s role as a Clinical Drug Delivery Intern has been a transformative experience. “It is my second summer doing Project Onramp and working with Spark Therapeutics. It is going great. I am having fun learning about the field and with my team,” she shared. One of the key lessons she’s learned is how to take constructive criticism in a work environment and the importance of collaboration in biotech.

"The best thing about my internship is the lessons and connections I am exposed to," Sameenah noted. These experiences have solidified her career aspirations. “My internships these past couple of years have allowed me to realize I would like to work in Clinical Operations somewhere.”

Project Onramp has been instrumental in exposing Sameenah to fields she didn’t know existed while also providing support in navigating new business environments. "Project Onramp has exposed me to fields I did not know existed while also giving me support on how to maneuver in these new business environments."

Looking ahead, Sameenah envisions a future in Clinical Operations. "In 10 years from now, I am hoping to be successful in Clinical Operations as I understand different studies going through clinical trials," she shared. Her journey through Project Onramp has equipped her with the skills and connections needed to pursue this path.
