Club 81 | Andrew Vizcarra

Born to immigrant parents who came to America with no money, no resources, but a whole lot of hustle, Andrew Vizcarra has seen the results of what entrepreneurship and having the right attitude can do for your life.

Andrew (25 year old founder of Downey, California's booming new vegan restaurant) started his restaurant, Guacamaya Oasis, after a family trip to Mexico back in 2017.

He saw vibrant colors in the food, incredible flavors, and the fresh dishes from a classic Mexican restaurant and wondered "Why is there nothing like this in my city?"

Andrew saw a product that he couldn't get back home, and as many great entrepreneurs do, he saw an opportunity. But what came next would not be easy.

Though Andrew had witnessed successful entrepreneurship from his parents in the fabric and dye business, starting a restaurant was a completely new game. So Andrew, 23 at the time, had to start learning the ins-and-outs of opening his dream business by doing one thing: TAKING MASSIVE AND IMMEDIATE ACTION.

Learning about permits, raising capital, scouting locations, creating a menu - Andrew was hands on through it all.

Being a long time friend of Andrew's, I would occasionally call and check in on him. Each time, he would mention a new positive audio he was listening to, or motivational book he was reading, as he was setting up the launch of his new venture.

Being so young and new to this space, he knew that his mind and confidence had to be unbreakable going into building Guacamaya Oasis. There would be ups, there would be downs, but his focus remained the same: Build a restaurant and menu that his friends, family, and future customers would absolutely love.

Now, just over a year after opening, Guacamaya Oasis is booming. They have mastered the vegan marketplace, and have customers raving about them on social media. I took a trip to Downey, California a few months back to see what the hype was all about - and i was blown away.

The fresh food, the quality of service, the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the incredible pricing for it all was mind blowing - Andrew Vizcarra had pulled off his vision.

Andrew entered this venture with no experience in running a restaurant, the pressure of being a student in university, and I'm many obstacles along the way. Through it all, he kept his mind sharp and used what we call "The Brixton 81 Attitude".

Regardless of the circumstances, no matter what the odds against you are, if you have the Brixton 81 Attitude, you can create any result you want in life.

Andrew now has a 7-figure business after 1 year, and still growing with more locations to come.

The lesson in Andrew's story is this: Find opportunity, create a detailed image of the results you want, and don't stop moving until you get there.
