Construction Recruitment Trends

We sat down with one of our leaders and he provided us with insights into previous construction recruitment trends. Here are some of the notable trends in construction recruitment that have emerged in recent years:

  1. Emphasis on diversity and inclusion: There has been a growing emphasis on promoting diversity and inclusion in the construction industry. Many companies are implementing initiatives to attract and retain underrepresented groups, such as women and people of colour, in an effort to create a more diverse workforce.
  2. Use of technology: Technology has played an increasing role in construction recruitment. Many companies are using social media, online job boards, and other digital platforms to reach potential candidates. Additionally, technology is being used to streamline the recruitment process, such as through automated resume screening tools and virtual interviews.
  3. Increased focus on employee benefits: In a highly competitive job market, companies are offering more attractive employee benefits packages to attract and retain top talent. This includes benefits such as flexible scheduling, health and wellness programs, and career development opportunities.
  4. Skills-based hiring: With a shortage of skilled workers in the construction industry, many companies are focusing on skills-based hiring. This involves assessing candidates based on their technical skills and experience, rather than solely on their educational background.

Emphasis on safety: Safety has always been a top priority in the construction industry, but there has been a renewed emphasis on promoting safe work environments and hiring workers who prioritize safety on the job.

These are just a few of the trends our Director Andy Skyrme has witnessed within the Construction recruitment in recent years. As the industry continues to evolve, Andy Feels it's important for companies to stay current with the latest recruitment strategies and adapt to changing market conditions.
