Dear LinkedIn

Dear LinkedIn

Last night I thought openly and honestly about deleting my profile. One less platform to mine my data. One less channel to weaken data security. One less medium to further propaganda - in this case job availability and the desire to fill them.

Like these advertised roles and their gate-keepers, we have done our research, only to realize that advertised positions are linked to organizations’ performance/growth, even to satisfy quotas - the illusion of job creation. Corporate social responsibility to some extent.

As such, short listings, algorithms and incompatibility with search criteria marginalizes an exhausted group seeking scarce benefits. This we learn from expert Headhunters and other acclaim HR experts offering products and services to a group with little or no economic stability. Given this, it would appear, that LinkedIn provides the ideal atmosphere for the manifestation of a Marxist theory, an equal opportunity to become unequal or to succeed. Who can and/or is willing to pay for premium services and career accelerators.

Like organizations, we too are invested in the idea of value proposition. Hence, as your contribution to the eco-system and the employment life-cycle, we would love the courtesy of hearing back from our future employers, it validates the existence of these vacancies. This acknowledgement, whilst not a job offering, nor will it be our saviour from economic woes or the lack of self-actualization; fuels our search and investment in the perfect resume. It says the time and resources you dedicated to research and aligning your academic and professional achievements with the business direction and future was noticed. It declares that automation, numbers, compatibility suits and programs, have not replaced empathy, compassion and positive reinforcement.

Linkden, can we develop a way to ‘shortlist’ job vacancies, and ‘flag’ job advertisers with no legacy of filling the unemployment gap? A tier-system can be applied to patterns of behaviour that conflicts with your core values. Additionally, basic metrics such as, does the organization(s) have a history of filling advertised position(s)? The time-span of posted positions. Or the development of a way to identify serial advertisers and a required response. This is useful information in offsetting the impact of joblessness, and in making the search more user-friendly - reminding customers, LinkedIn cares, LinkedIn works. In fact, we know some of these positions are already fill, and are therefore advertised for legal reasons. Help us to remove the subterfuge.

Essentially, your insight (LinkedIn) guides job-seekers; keep us enthused and highly competitive. Job postings on your platform lends credibility to any invitation to treat. Your input preserves time, widens the candidate pool, and harvest the strongest and most suited applicants. We are, your inherent customers, the targets of a plethora of products and services; our presence and need is symbiotic. It is important that you provide the opportunity to streamline serious offers and leads, to foster job focus and suitability.

Job seekers need affirmation to remain viable, and yearn for honesty to remain hopeful.

Sincerely,

Shackelia
