Determining Marketing Objectives

As I prepare my Digital Marketing Strategy assignment for the Social Media Marketing course I am taking this semester, I decided to take a LinkedIn Learning course about marketing objectives. Marketing objectives are crucial to marketing success and ensuring I have a strong understanding of how to set them is helpful not only for my assignment, but my overall future in the marketing field.
Customer acquisition is essential for any business and many entrepreneurs don't realize that. They become too focused on their particular product or service and do not give the proper attention to customer acquisition. It can be defined as "the act of getting people both interested in your product or service and buying your product or service". Understanding and mastering this concept is extremely important to be able set and implement successful marketing objectives.
With this idea, we must know to always measure marketing. Marketing can be quite expensive and time-consuming and you want to be sure it is really benefitting your company. When setting objectives, it is important to make sure your marketing programs enhance all other aspects if your business.
Note that marketing objectives are specific things you want to achieve in executing your marketing strategy. When developing objectives, I learned the following guidelines that I found very helpful:
- Be specific.
- Make sure it is measurable
- Put it in writing.
- Communicate to your entire audience.
- Build into your financial plan.
In addition, I learned some of the different types of objectives, including:
- Exposure and Awareness
- Growth/Sales Goals
- Lead Generation
This course was extremely helpful in educating me on how to set successful marketing objectives, including the breakdown of the most common types. With the information I learned in this course, I am now able to incorporate marketing objectives into my Digital Marketing Strategy assignment and my future career. I am excited to continue utilizing this amazing tool to learn more strategies for success in my Digital Marketing career.
