Dreaming, Designing and Now Getting Down to Work: Progress on the Nursing and Allied Health Professions Facility in Franklin

Before photo of the roof on this old structure...a first step on renovation.

Now that we have completed the dreaming and designing phase of this awesome project, it is time to get down to work, and boy has HOY Construction, Inc. Hoy Construction taken off like a rocket!  Take a look at these before and now pictures on the interior renovations portion.  We are turning this 1970s vintage office/industrial building into a state-of-the-art medical training facility and that requires some old walls to come down to make way for new ones. Opening up multiple small spaces into large flexible learning and training areas is the mission.

The new Nursing and Allied Health Professions facility project, located at 1000 Armory Drive (formerly the Tidewater News building) is a total renovation and re-purposing, inside and out, to support the College’s goals: To craft a facility that will allow Camp to expand its current Nursing classes and Healthcare related workforce skills development training.

One of the charges Garten Property Solutions (GPS) was given at the outset of this project was to hire and contract with as much local talent as possible from the Franklin/Southampton County and Smithfield/Isle of Wight County regions.  I am proud to say we have accomplished this goal. Coggins Electrical from Elberon and Rawlings Mechanical from Courtland are just two of the local subcontractors engaged by Hoy.

Garten Property Solutions is managing the exterior renovations directly.  I have contracted with Coastal Waters Contracting & Roofing from Smithfield for the roofing and sheet metal and Baxter Bros LLC from Newsoms for the pressure washing and painting.

Stay tuned for future updates.  If you or someone you know is in need of a professional, focused, Owner’s Rep for an upcoming project or a project that is spinning out-of-control, give me a call.  I love talking development and construction.

Getting there is half the fun! We are enjoying working with you to deliver this project Matt.
