Driving Innovation: A spotlight on our developers

SimplePart's team of dedicated software developers (a.k.a. “The Dev Team”) works tirelessly to stay at the forefront of the automotive parts eCommerce industry. The team members bring unique skills and perspectives to the table, contributing to the platform's ongoing success and innovation. We spoke to a few rising stars on the Dev Team to get their perspectives on their careers working on the SimplePart platform at Infomedia.

SimplePart’s innovations

For those not in the automotive parts world, selling parts online has traditionally been a logistical nightmare for dealerships and OEMs alike. Enter SimplePart, Infomedia's innovative SaaS solution. Our platform provides dealerships with custom-branded websites that streamline the entire process—from accurate part identification to seamless order fulfillment.

It's transforming a once-cumbersome task into a significant revenue stream. Thousands of dealers across the globe rely on the SimplePart platform to receive, process and ship parts and accessories orders.

In recent years, the automotive industry has undergone seismic shifts: the rise of electric vehicles, the advent of connected cars, and the future of eCommerce. At SimplePart, we're not just spectators; we're active participants that employ forward-thinking that keeps innovation in the driver’s seat.

Specialization in a niche market

William Shultz, a SimplePart full stack developer, focuses primarily on the SimplePart eCommerce platform, specializing in new program and component creation: "I work with my fellow web developers on the SimplePart eCommerce platform, primarily with new program and component creation."

His role involves close collaboration with both the Design and Development teams to implement solutions tailored for their OEM partners. This cross-functional approach ensures that each feature not only functions flawlessly but also aligns with the partner's brand and user experience goals.

Another key player on the SimplePart dev team is Carlos Rodriguez, a Development Architect. His role is critical in shaping the platform's future: "As a Development Architect, I design and oversee the architecture of our software solutions, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and aligned with our business goals.”

User experience is key

The team's efforts are deeply rooted in enhancing user experience. As full stack developer Harris Collier puts it, "our work as devs primarily focuses on implementing and remediating new additions to the user experience, such as new components on pages and tools to make client life easier.

This user-centric philosophy is evident in their recent projects. He elaborates, "For instance, some of my work in the last several weeks has focused on improving our interactions with clients that use eBay to sell products, as well as assisting with new designs for our product pages." These enhancements not only make the platform more intuitive but also open up new sales channels for dealerships.

Part of a team, part of a culture

What truly sets the SimplePart team apart is their collaborative and inclusive culture. Wil cites the “best aspect of working here has been the co-workers I've been able to interact with - both the Development Team and company as a whole have some incredible people, and I've been happy to have the opportunity to work with them."

This sentiment is echoed by Harris, who values the diverse insights gained from the global team: "A personal favorite aspect of my job is the correspondence I keep with everybody on board, from folks in our daily meetings to people all the way in Europe or Australia. The types of perspectives you can get from all walks of life, work, and general experiences are both very interesting and helpful to my day-to-day work."

Carlos also finds immense satisfaction in his role's impact: "My favorite aspect of my job is the opportunity to solve complex problems and see the tangible impact of my work on the platform's performance and user experience. It's incredibly rewarding to collaborate with a talented team and to be at the forefront of technological advancements that drive our business forward."

The office environment also lends itself to unique break times. "Of course, having an office that allows dogs is a great benefit, too!" Harris noted.

Specialized success

In the heart of Atlanta, this group of talented developers for Infomedia's SimplePart product is doing more than writing code. They're architecting solutions, enhancing user experiences, and fostering a collaborative culture that spans continents. As they continue to innovate, the SimplePart dev team exemplifies how specialized expertise, coupled with a passion for problem-solving and a supportive work environment, can drive significant change in this unique intersection of automotive and tech.
