Family Care Benefits Deliver High Return-on-Investment

Family Care Benefits Deliver High Return-on-Investment

Childcare Benefits More Than Pay for Themselves at U.S. Companies

The April 2024 Boston Consulting Group study found that:

"All five companies that we studied—across different industries, company sizes, employee mixes, and benefit types—earned a positive ROI, ranging up to 425%. Retaining as few as 1% of eligible employees because of childcare benefits can cover the cost of offering them."

Ways & Wane has seen this same kind of ROI—470%—with a client offering an eldercare navigation benefit. Let us know if you want the family care benefits case study.

Employee Mental Health Affected by Caring for Family

This U.S. News article "Nearly 7 Million Americans Have Alzheimer's, and Caregivers Are Stressed" says that the top five sources of stress for caregivers are:

  • Cost (42%).

  • Coordinating with multiple doctors (36%).

  • Securing appointments (35%).

  • Getting help taking a break (35%).

  • Finding appropriate doctors (32%).

Ways and Wane recently helped a client access $23,000 per year for care that they had been paying out of pocket. Now that doesn't help with the anticipatory grief the family experiences that comes with dementia, but it does help with the financial stress.

The vast majority of dementia caregivers (97%) say they would find a navigation service helpful. But only half (51%) have talked with a health care professional about the challenges they face or sought help with dementia care, the report says. Employers are starting to recognize the value in an eldercare navigation benefit.

Female Employees Quitting Due to Caregiving

Nearly two in ten employed family caregivers said they had to quit their jobs, because of caring for a loved one – and women bear the biggest part of the burden of caring for older Americans and their growing need for medical care and support.
