Financial Fluidity: The 4th Installment in my Conversation Series, Beyond the Practice of Prosthetics

I have learned that establishing myself as a respected Entrepreneur meant being able to become fluid in my financial movements. Leaning in deeper – I aspire to leave a lasting inheritance for my family. This meant that I had to learn to diversify my interests beyond the scope of my medical practice. There was a time that discussing financial health was considered taboo. I can recall how lack was the common denominator in many of table-conversations I heard while growing up. Is it time we change the dialogue?

In a conversation with a colleague, I shamelessly spoke of my employment at my local Arby’s. Why? The fortitude in which I put in my time in the fast food industry allowed me the same fortitude to stockpile the cash I needed to open my medical practice. Realizing that modeling entrepreneurship will serve as my individual community platform, my field of vision has been narrowed. An entire generation of youth is watching African American males more closely than ever before. Statistically, the sector of the highest at risk for poverty numbers points directly to three specific subpopulations of individuals: minorities, single mothers, and black males under 30. With heightened media presence, political polarity, and a strong rebellious fiber floating through our schools, I know the time has come to spark new conversations.

Thank you for reading. I invite you to join me for the last installment of my Conversation Series: Beyond the Practice of Prosthetics
