Finding the Positive in Covid-19, Corona Virus

1) Less people travelling means less airline pollution.

2) Less cars and trucks on the road means less traffic and pollution.

3) Scarcity in stores puts our basic necessities into perspective.

4) NBA/NHL/Shows cancelled means more time for family, friendships, and neighbors.

For far too long, our endless appetite for consumption has impacted our daily habits, the way we live, and the unconscious effect we have on our precious planet.

For far too long, the age of abundance has spoiled us, making us believe the resources on our planet are endless.

Under the mask of progress, we have become careless.

I hope this virus brings an end to cheap products, single-use items, plastic accessories, bottled water, and big box stores that sell us useless items in the name of profit, stock prices, and corporate greed.

I hope this virus brings an end to out-of-season produce that gets shipped to our grocery stores simply because we want to eat strawberries and avocados all year long.

I hope this virus brings people together to find local and sustainable ways to live, produce, share, consume, and ENJOY what's truly important in our lives.

For all the exposure Covid-19 is generating, I hope this virus brings an end to the BIGGER virus of unconscious ego-driven consumption, and the utter disregard for the impact our daily choices have on people and our planet.

Maybe this is nature's way of telling humanity to slow down and take a breather from this race towards self destruction and extinction.

Please, let's use this pandemic as an opportunity to self-reflect, change our habits, and find positive outcomes that help people, communities, and the Earth.

Very enlightening! It's too bad that it takes a tragedy, virus, or some sort of suffering for us to self-reflect...should be naturally habitual. Every day.
