A friendly note to all candidates on or off the market:

If you are approached by Recruiters on LinkedIn via InMail, I highly recommend not declining messages outright using the "No Thanks" quick response. By doing this, LinkedIn cuts off the potential for future communication between you and that Recruiter. You may be interested in new opportunities down the road, and they may have something that could be your future "dream job", so don't close that door for good!

There's even a better reason to respond with a line or 2 to anybody contacting you with a legitimate job prospect: common decency. I never not respond without saying hello and giving a reason for not being in the market for that particular job. There's a human on the other side and the 'no thanks' option is on par with not responding at all. It takes 20 seconds to respond so why not do it?
