GPT 4o, Stack Overflow + OpenAI, LLMs Explained, & How EY Hires Devs 🦾

Hello developers! 👋🏻

We're back with another edition of our next-gen developer newsletter! We're here to push the latest intel about tech and AI right to your human repository. Yes, our puns are classy, and we inherit them naturally. 😎

What broke in prod last month? ✨

Is it just us or do you feel the pace of AI advancements has slowed down a bit? Don't get us wrong, the updates are still very impactful, but they've been easier to keep up with. Anyway, here are a few must-reads to get you up to speed:

↗️ OpenAI released GPT-4o, the AI-assistant from sci-fi movies!

// It can now critique how you look, laugh at your dad jokes, all while sounding straight like Scarlett Johansson from the movie Her.

Seriously, they've had to pause using one of their voices because it sounds so much like the actress. //

↗️ StackOverflow and OpenAI are now partnering to empower developers

// With StackOverflow's data and OpenAI's model, this partnership could be very helpful for developers everywhere…

Unless this meme comes true. //

↗️ A game to learn Github: Oh My Git!

// It's been out for some time, but we discovered this last month. You can learn Git version control through visualization, playing cards, and an integrated terminal. //

Here’s a cool AI tool 🤖

If there's something more daunting than reviewing someone else's code, is to write proper documentation. But as Next-Gen developers, we can put AI to the use here.

mutable.ai: Generate interactive, Wikipedia-style documentation (with code diagrams) for your codebase, with AI chat to explore and understand your code.

New-s from HackerRank 🚨

🗞️ Or we should say, some nEUs because we wrapped up an event at the Royal Society in London for tech and talent leaders in Europe. Here's a recap ▶️

🗞️ By the way, we're looking to feature some amazing people from our community on our social media. 🤩

Did you give a technical test or an interview on HackerRank? Tell us what you liked best - the IDE, whiteboard interviews, real-world questions, or the platform itself.

We'll highlight selected responses across our social channels, reaching over 2M tech pros and recruiters. [Share them here!]

🗞️ Oh, and also - we're co-hosting a virtual student prep series in collaboration with our good friends at Atlassian, designed to equip all US students with the tools and knowledge necessary for a successful upcoming hiring season! [More details here]

Tech terms explained - with no jargon 🤌🏼

For this edition, our AI model, Ada is explaining LLMs or Large Language Models! You've probably heard of this term so many times, but chances are, you, like most of us, don't exactly know what it means.

But don't worry, Ada is here to break it down into simple terms!
