Gun Control Cannot Control Hate
Every time there is a mass shooting there is a cry for more gun control laws. The fallacy of this knee jerk reaction is this; if there were fewer guns we would have fewer deaths. What those people forget is that most deaths are caused by other things.
On September 11, 2001, almost 3000 people were murdered, not by guns, but by flying passenger aircraft into tall buildings.
Take for example the killing in Sutherland Springs, Texas. If he did not have a gun, he could still have gotten a truck and caused as much death and destruction.
Timothy McVea killed more people with a truck bomb in Oklahoma City than either the Las Vegas shooter or the one in Sutherland Springs.
There are all sorts of weapons a killer may use, if he is dead set on killing people. A bag of pipe bombs at a Boston Marathon. A truck driven down a bicycle path.
More people are killed by drunk, or even just distracted, drivers than are killed by guns. But you never hear people shouting for more Car Control Laws.
People going on about "Gun Control Laws" are so short sighted. The problem is not the weapon, whether it be a gun, a truck or an airplane.
The problem lies with people who embrace Hate because, for whatever the reason, they cannot feel loved.
And That is the problem that needs to be solved.

6yThat’s like saying Speed Limits can’t stop Drunk Driving. Of course not. But we have speed limits, driver’s licenses and driving tests to prevent every Tom, Dick and (Debbie) Harry from mowing us all down on roads. But I guess it's OK for them to be fugitives, mentally ill, or hateful individuals and get any assault rifles they want. For the record, I'm a gun owner and have known how to use them since I was quite young. But I do not believe that gives me a right to have a machine gun or a dozen ASSAULT rifles.

6yThe basic concept of allowing small arms to citizen is deterrent . Self defence is a basic human right . Hate is mainly due to ignorance . Improvise explosive devices ( IEDs) have caused more deaths than small arms issued to citizens under license .
