Happy Birthday, Stellantis! Software has a bright future in store for you.

At this special time, when we celebrate Stellantis’ first anniversary, it is fitting to pause and reflect on the journey that has brought us thus far, take stock of where we are today and look forward to our ambitious goals for the future.

They say software is eating the world.

I believe it is feeding us new opportunities. It is opening up ways and possibilities that were hard to imagine. It is connecting people and places. It is allowing us to achieve more than what was previously possible.

We never really think about software, although today, it has become the game itself.

It is everywhere, and in everything we do. It is changing our lives and reshaping many industries.

Software is also driving an unprecedented transformation in mobility.

Every significant milestone that lies ahead for our vehicles depends on software: from the way we navigate on and off roads, to finding and using a charging station, to managing automated driving functions or simply parking, to making tomorrow’s vehicles safer, more energy efficient, more reliable and more comfortable. 

A solid strategy, in record time

In the digital world, everything moves fast.

We do too.

Stellantis is still in its infancy, but in just one year we have laid out the foundations of a bright, connected, and customized future.

We created our SWX group - SoftWare driven eXperience - and the Software leadership team presented the main pillars of our strategy during Stellantis Software Day.

We intend to disconnect the hardware and the software cycles to create a product that can evolve naturally and regularly. This will make the vehicle always fresh, its value higher and our customers happier.

As a team, we move full speed developing our three technology platforms:

  • STLA Brain, which breaks today’s bond between hardware and software generations, enabling us to create and update features quickly over the air, without waiting for a new hardware launch;
  • STLA SmartCockpit, creating a customizable third living space;
  • and STLA AutoDrive, on autonomous driving capabilities.

We have also built a strong network of partners, including Amazon, BMW, Mobile Drive-Foxconn and Waymo, to support our efforts and help drive innovation.

Finally, we are creating a Software and Data Academy to reskill over 1,000 engineers per year, help them grow, and make a difference, in the digital world. In parallel, we are hiring software talent, mostly from tech companies, with a global objective to reach a team of 4,500 people by 2024.

What’s at stake

The automotive industry is in the midst of a once in-100-years transformation.

In the next twenty years, we have the opportunity to redefine mobility as we know it.

At Stellantis, we want and can lead this transformation.

I’m incredibly proud of what the SWX team has accomplished in such a short period of time, of their talent and passion.

They are the real force behind Stellantis’ transformation into a sustainable mobility tech company.

I am honored to be on this team and lead the next phase of our customer-centric software journey.
