Hello 2019

Hello 2019

We have all heard it, “New year, New You”. We all commit to change. The gyms get fuller and the grocery store is out of quinoa. The smell of self-improvement has been floating through the streets of cities across the globe these past days and it’s hard not to get excited for what this year has in store.

So what is a New Year’s Resolution anyway? A resolution by definition is a firm decision to do or not to do something. Seems simple right. Then why in February can I go into my workout class and finally move around without bumping into everyone and why is it that I can buy my quinoa without having to throw up elbows in an HEB by March? If it was a firm decision to change, the change should not be temporary.

Making a change is exciting, nerve wracking, and life altering. However, it is also amazing. When coal is put under pressure, it turns into a diamond. As you reflect on 2018 and look forward to this year, I challenge you to look for areas where you can put pressure on yourself to grow.

Maybe that means you go to the gym more. Maybe that means you stop eating every breakfast taco you see (even though they are indeed delicious). Maybe that you means you finally step away from that job or situation that you know is not right for you and go out on your own. One of the reasons I love what I do is I get to help people transition into a new stage of life that helps individuals and families reach their goals. Nothing makes me happier than seeing people work hard to achieve their goals.

As for me, I am calling 2019 the year of the wedding. How about that for a firm decision to do something. With less than 2 months left as an Erickson I am excited for this year and all the accomplishments it will bring.

 New year, New last name.
