Help drive hunger from our communities

June is National Hunger Awareness Month and each year TruMark Financial Credit Union joins local legislators and credit unions in a month-long food drive.

Collaboratively, we have chosen June for the food drive and July for the delivery of food and checks to Philabundance because children finish school in June. For many children, that means that free or reduced cost breakfasts and lunches also end in June.

In 2020, the number of children living with hunger jumped to nearly 12 million. That’s one in six children – in 2020. Today, the estimates are that between 16 and 17 million children are facing hunger. That is simply unacceptable.

That is our “Why” and this is our “Ask”: During the month of June, please bring kid-friendly, non-perishable food to any of TruMark Financial’s branches help reduce childhood hunger over the summer.

Some examples are peanut butter, jelly, boxed macaroni and cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, canned tuna and meat, canned soups and stews, oatmeal and breakfast cereals, rice and pasta, juice (100%), boxed, non-refrigerated milk, and cooking oil.

PLEASE, no glass jars or bottles.

Thank you to all in our community who have supported this food drive in the past and to all who will be working to reduce childhood hunger again this year.

Together, we can make a difference!
