How much candy is lying around your house right now?

How much candy is lying around your house right now?

Particularly poignant food for thought at this time of year ...

In a recently published study conducted by UC San Francisco and Touro University California, doctors reduced a group of children’s average sugar intake from ~30 percent to just 10 percent of daily calories, replacing sugary processed foods with starches like potatoes and bagels.   The net result was that the children saw remarkable health improvements in just nine days:  increased liver function accompanied by significant reductions in blood pressure, triglycerides, “bad” cholesterol, and insulin levels.

Note, this was a very small study (both in number of participants and duration) and there wasn’t a control group.  So obviously more work has yet to be done.  However, it does represent yet another strong data point that reinforces the numerous health benefits associated with reducing daily sugar intake.
