TikTok Pixels will be enabled for cookies
Beginning April 28, 2022, all standard and developer mode pixels created before March 10, 2022, including active installed pixels, will be enabled for cookies. In addition, they revised their initial guidance on managing cookie settings and usage when a user declines consent. TikTok has opted to activate the usage of first- and third-party cookies to put their product offerings in line with the industry, as identity continues to become increasingly fractured and unknown.
Meta opens a physical store
Meta is launching its first hardware retail store on its campus in Burlingame, California. The store, which opens May 9th, will let visitors try out and buy Meta’s Portal videophones and Quest virtual reality headsets. They’ll also be able to demo the Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses that debuted last year.
Reels make up 20% of users time on Instagram
Meta announced during its Q1 2022 earnings call that Reels, its short-form video feature and TikTok rival, now makes up more than 20% of the time that people spend on Instagram. The company also noted that video, overall, makes up 50% of the time that users spend on Facebook.
