Internship Experience at PACCAR Inc.

PACCAR Inc is one of the largest manufacturers of medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles in the world. PACCAR is engaged in the design, manufacturing and customer support of light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, Leyland and DAF nameplates. They are also involved in designing and manufacturing diesel engines, provides financial services, information technology, and distributes truck parts related to its principal business.

After successfully completing my summer internship at PACCAR as a Purchasing Analyst I was given an opportunity to extend my tenure and work for the fall semester. My responsibilities as a Purchasing Analyst included but were not limited to creating and quoting packages for market scans, assist with RPI management, bid creation & negotiations. Moreover, my role involved evaluation of supplier risk & spend analysis, contracts management in PACCAR PPS, resolving issues for price discrepancies and to update briefing papers of suppliers. This internship provided me a great experience and helped me to enhance my skills in the field of strategic sourcing and procurement. I had the privilege to meet different suppliers from different industries and from different geographical origins. This helped me develop my customer relationship management skills. This internship has provided me with a lot of opportunities to experience the aspects of due diligence for sourcing risks in a supply chain and how to tackle the problems.

It was not only the work but also the people you work with define your satisfaction and affect your learning experience. I was fortunate to be surrounded by such amazing people who constantly motivated me and appreciated me the whole time.
