Meet the 5 43North companies that are now headed to Buffalo

About 3,000 people gathered at Shea's Performing Arts Center Thursday night to find out which five startups would make Buffalo their new home.

These five startups, whose current locations range from Massachusetts to California, will receive $1 million each. In return, they must make Buffalo their headquarters for at least a year and give 43North a 5% stake in their respective companies.

After recent firings, here's who's running the Bills and Sabres

The departure of two top executives from the Buffalo Bills and Sabres is the latest in a string of shakeups among the teams' top leaders.

John Roth, chief operating officer and executive vice president of the Bills and Sabres, and Kathryn D'Angelo, senior vice president and general counsel for the Bills, were both fired Wednesday due to an alleged unethical romantic relationship between them.

Wonder Bread project is on hold, but Stinson still has big plans

Developer Harry Stinson has put plans to renovate Buffalo's former Wonder Bread factory on the back burner due to a prolonged dispute over another property, but he said he hopes to get to work as soon as possible.

"Right now it's sort of on pause, because I'm pretty preoccupied with the hotel fight," said Stinson, who owns the former Buffalo Grand Hotel on Church Street.

The hotel has been closed since a 2021 fire, and Stinson has spent much of the last two years trying to resolve a $50.1 million insurance claim with Travelers Insurance Co. | Read more

New CEO turns Angola manufacturer around

With a new CEO at the helm, an Angola manufacturer of radio equipment and systems has made a big turnaround in a year.

TX RX Systems Inc. was bought in 2018 by Indutrade AB, a Swedish technology and industrial group of more than 200 companies around the world. Due to supply chain challenges, TX RX was “stagnant” in the years following the acquisition with no new products coming to market, president and CEO Tim Mattulke said.
