Headquartered in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, Codonics develops, designs, sells and supports leading-edge medical imaging and information management devices used in diagnostic imaging. Recognizing a worldwide need for improved medication safety practices, Codonics innovated Safe Label System(SLS) and entered the realm of patient safety-oriented systems.  With the global launch of SLS, Codonics reach in the hospital expanded to the operating room, ICU, PICU, patient floors, nurse medication prep stations and pharmacy, or anywhere medication preparation demands increased safety.

Today, Codonics is a global leader in image documentation solutions and provides healthcare with some of the most advanced medical imaging and patient safety products in the world. Codonics is represented in over 110 countries with more than 30,000 product installations in renowned, cutting-edge medical facilities throughout the world.

Codonics was established in Middleburg Heights in 1983 with two employees. Today, Codonics employs over 180 in Middleburg Heights and has offices throughout the world.  A recipient of the Presidents e-Award for exporting excellence, Codonics President and founder Peter Botten has met with President Obama regarding exporting, and has attended the U.S.-China Business Roundtable hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. with Vice President Biden and Chinese Vice President Xi.  Mr. Botten was one of only 22 CEO’s from the United States and China to participate in the roundtable summit.

Codonics partnered with Massachusetts General Hospital to develop the SLS 500i Safe Label System which uses breakthrough technology to print data-rich bar-coding for labeling IV medication to reduce human error and increase patient safety in operating rooms.

In addition, Codonics affiliate company Daylight Medical, also in Middleburg Heights, has developed state-of-the-art disinfection technologies that are simple and affordable yet highly effective. Using ultraviolet C (UVC) spectrum light, Daylight Medical devices can disinfect everything from entire rooms to hand-held smart phones. 

The City of Middleburg Heights continues to work with Codonics to facilitate the continued growth and success of the company. Codonics is a valued member of the Middleburg Heights business community.
