Moving your business to the 'cloud' is so exciting, isn’t it?

Cloud technology has been around for years, but it is only more recently, over the past few years, that it has really taken off amongst UK businesses. More and more companies are expected to make the shift to benefit from increased, efficiency, productivity, improved customer satisfaction, less operating expenses, and increased data security.

Businesses who successfully do this consider the who, what, how, when, where, and why of data to not only ensure security and compliance but to extract value from all the information collected and stored across the business – improving business performance.

An integral part of any decision will need to take into account that your business will completely rely on the internet, which has become an indispensable resource to us all. We rely on its service and whether we like to admit it or not, we cannot function properly without it.

So as a business owner, you have made the decision and you are heading to the cloud. Now, where is your data?

If your organization’s cloud to-do list doesn’t have “data migration” somewhere near the top, the excitement will be short-lived, as you face the challenges of moving your data from one place to another, while ensuring updates are replicated until the migration of that data is completed.

Moving to true Cloud computing takes time and you should not expect everything to run smoothly and uninterrupted straight after any installation.

The migration should have working phases as it takes time to analyze and improve the processes that are happening in the organization, to determine what needs enhancement and what data or processes need rethinking. A repeatable process that is aimed to be upgraded and adapted frequently, as new, better ways of working are discovered.

There are several advantages for moving your business data to the Cloud, including speeding up business project deployment time which helps you reach your objectives faster, greater manageability of the hardware the data resides on making it easy to run and distribute information anywhere, and being smarter with the related costs of upgrading hardware.

While it’s true that a lot of business leaders hesitate to move to the cloud because of cost issues, there are also those who are absolutely confident in the fact that it’s a good investment.

Imagine having all the data you need in one secure place that nobody except you and your employees can access; think of what that can do to help you save time and money.

You should always work with a trusted, knowledgeable technology provider to ensure a smooth transition and efficiency.

Are you ready for a new better way of working?

Michael, as you so rightly identify: "Cloud technology has been around for years, but it is only more recently, over the past few years, that it has really taken off amongst UK businesses." Very much the future and the precursor to AI advances. Thank you for sharing. Hope all is well. Best wishes
