As Artificial Intelligence makes new gains, it is evident that GenAI experiences will significantly add value to smartphones. GenAI on smartphones will drive future growth, and by 2027, these phones are expected to reach 522 million units in shipments, according to a Counterpoint Report. As the numbers indicate, OEMs can no longer ignore the trend, given that GenAI awareness and availability will continue to grow among users. OPPO remains committed to its vision of bringing AI access to all its users. The latest Reno12 Series in India is meant to be ‘Your Everyday AI companion,’ and packs the most GenAI features for its price.

But why does GenAI matter on phones? OPPO sees smartphones as the most important personal AI devices. These GenAI-ready smartphones can run large language models (LLMs) on-device and via the cloud with minimal latency. The chipset architecture is also efficiently optimised for these AI-based tasks. Further GenAI can help users achieve the best results in productivity and creativity. Thus, OPPO is committed to ensuring its Gen AI features reach around 50 million users worldwide by the end of 2024.

OPPO’s expertise in imaging technology is well known. AI will enhance this further. In addition, the OPPO AI Centre, established this year, will further accelerate research efforts in the field. OPPO has over 5,000 patents related to AI inventions and has developed its own LLMs since 2020, with a focus on vision models and multimodal technology. In fact, OPPO’s in-house algorithms power many of the AI technologies related to multimedia—whether it is for editing imaging or ensuring the correct skin tones for Indian users.

OPPO’s GenAI prowess is on full display when one looks at the suite of features that the Reno12 5G Series offers. It packs the widest array of GenAI features for its price segment. Whether it is automatically transcribing the audio recording of a long meeting, organising it into helpful notes or reading lengthy articles on the web, the AI Toolbox on Reno12 Series does this easily. The AI Smart Recording also works with Hindi for the convenience of Indian users. And given GenAI’s ability to improve itself and learn from patterns, it will understand user context better with time.

The camera is another place where AI will enhance user experience. The Reno12’s camera builds on this further with features like AI Eraser 2.0, AI Best Face and AI Clear Face. Users no longer need a dedicated app to erase objects from a photo or an app that will ensure everyone has main character energy in the group photo.

As the Reno12 Series outlines, OPPO’s focus for 2024 will be on GenAI features for users. OPPO has already partnered with industry leaders such as Google, MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Microsoft to bolster its AI efforts.

Most importantly, it is clear that there is no gatekeeping when it comes to GenAI features. OPPO believes GenAI cannot be limited to only flagship or premium devices. Dear OPPO India My name is Krishna Murthy Naidu, and I reside in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. I purchased an Oppo phone on June 23, 2024, through Bajaj Finance in Bhimavaram. After a month of usage, I noticed several issues with the phone: 1. There is a swelling in the screen. 2. The headset has lines on the display. 3. The overall performance of the product is very slow. 4. The phone occasionally hangs whenever the lines on the display appear. Upon visiting the Oppo service center in Bhimavaram, I was informed by the service personnel that the swelling issue was deemed to be physical damage. However, I strongly believe that swelling is not a result of physical damage and should be covered under the insurance policy provided with the phone. OPPO , this is the 2nd time I am getting green lines on my screen after updating the phone. last time I faced the same issue and paid almost 17,000/- for screen replacement. it's not me alone. Other users have faced the same issue last year. and when we go to the service centre you refuse to change the screen for free because of some physical damages. OPPO can you please explain why exactly in the middle of the screen we are getting these lines in 2-3 days after updating the phone???... Soon others will face the same green line issue like last year if they have updated their phone recently. Why are you people doing this??
