Rain or Shine: Unforgettable Moments of Connecting, Competing, and Giving Back at the CMAA Gulf Coast Chapter Golf Benefit!

What an unforgettable experience. I had the opportunity to volunteer last week at the 12th Annual CMAA Gulf Coast Chapter Golf Benefit! This event is always special, but this year was particularly meaningful for me.

The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Gulf Coast Chapter has been near and dear to my heart since its inception. I had the honor of being part of its early days, working closely with CMAA National and the Steering Committee to help shape the chapter. Reconnecting with old friends, seeing familiar faces, and meeting new professionals from the New Orleans area was truly heartwarming.

Despite a few challenges from Mother Nature, not even a little rain could dampen our spirits. We made the best of it, huddling up at the Hill House (thankfully, there was a bar set up there too!) and enjoying the camaraderie. The determination and enthusiasm of everyone present were palpable, turning what could have been a setback into a memorable highlight.

Held at the beautiful Lakewood Golf Club, the day kicked off with registration and a delicious lunch (of course it was po-boys), followed by a shotgun start at noon. The course was buzzing with energy as golfers played their hearts out, all in support of a fantastic cause: providing scholarships for students pursuing careers in construction management. Over the years, the CMAA Gulf Coast Chapter has awarded scholarships totaling over $24,000, and this year's event aimed to push that figure even higher.

One of the most exciting aspects of the day was the additional fundraising. Thanks to the generosity and spirited participation of attendees, the Chapter raised over $1,000 through the sale of raffle tickets, mulligans, and cheater ribbons. It was a testament to the community's commitment to supporting the next generation of construction management professionals.

As the tournament wrapped up, we gathered for an awards ceremony, which, in true New Orleans style, featured a mouth-watering crawfish boil. It was the perfect end to a day filled with laughter, friendly competition, and networking.

A big shoutout to everyone who made this event possible, including our sponsors and the dedicated CMAA Gulf Coast Chapter leadership and team including Jason Reibert Rachel Gomez Kiet Vo, PE Nicholas Wall William Fogle Justin Cain . Your hard work and passion truly shine through, making events like these not only possible but immensely enjoyable.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend getting involved with CMAA. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting your career, the connections and experiences you gain are invaluable.

Here's to another successful year of fundraising, friendship, and fantastic memories! Can't wait for next year's event!

It was a great seeing you and a great event.
